He’s currently residing in Monaco to forego 4 billion in tax, I understand your point but there are nuances.

I know it is pretty clear that DD is happy with the status co but if he really wanted to make a difference at the club infrastructure investment is somewhere he could really make a difference, whether it is paying in to a share issue, strengthening his position, or bringing in.investors who would be keen.

There’s also looking to companies in his portfolio, who could either sponsor for naming rights, or potentially be in line to benefit from providing some of the works.

Given all the new financial rules this is the way that people with money can make a difference to the clubs they are associated with. He could also provide patient capital, not that we would have an issue with achieving our own lending arrangements.

My worry is that they just don’t bother and remain happy with the status co, anything that seems difficult is steered away from.

For example we announced the Barrowfield project and Lennoxtown upgrades about 18 months ago but it was getting thought about before that. In that time period through retained profits the club will have roughly the same amount of cash available to it now as it did when that announcement was made.

Where stadium or stand redevelopment is on a whole other level there is a demand for Celtic and involvement with Celtic just now that possibly has never been matched. Whether its season tickets, evenings with, shows, player of the year being at the hydro (what other clubs do something like that) or anything else club associated it sells out and could sell out way over and above capacity.

For example if they done a museum it would be super popular, if they created a high quality hotel, with a Celtic theme it would be popular, upgraded the catering settings as I understand the food quality is already high, it would do well. The other thing is these ventures can be done in partnership, a hotel provider for the accommodation aspect, franchise for match day catering etc.

There really is a lot of opportunity to do something that would take the clubs off field up a couple of notches which then could be put back on the field through future revenue.

Could it be we are waiting to see what happens with alcohol at matches …. Spurs sell 130k pints a game that’s roughly 15m turnover a season on pints lol as soon as the government lift the ban the concourses will be getting done up

Maybe not a problem with our stadium design but some huge stadiums have a pathetic atmosphere due to bad design. Look at clubs like Barca, Real, Man Utd etc. And most clubs in Italy. Just sound like a weird surround noise. Swedens NT arena is a perfect example of a hilariously bad sound design.

Im for it as long as we keep the current layout so to speak but not not that much so we have lots of empty seats every week. That just sucks,

Surely the first thing to look at would be to add a top tier in both corners, in line with existing upper tiers, with little or no inconvenience to fans, could be done one by one in pre season. Should be able to fund it from cash reserves. Guessing 10 to 15M a tier??? And then make a plan for main stand.

Bumping this. Stopped by yesterday when we were out with our son and thought we would take him to see the stadium since it's been a while. What a sorry state it's in. The banners all look tatty as anything and it just looks grubby everywhere except the celtic way really. With all them millions in the bank surely it's about time it was given a major refurb.

Was listening to acsom today, seemingly they (acsom) are planning to do some sort of drone fly over then CGI a mock up of improvements that could be done to the stadium/area.

Even not bothering with increasing capacity, there is loads we could do to modernise what's already there.
Panel the outside with screens/lights to make it a spectacle, visible during the hours of dark from afar and above!
Modern tech throughout, the desperate need to give the place a lick of paint and some working toilets which also modernise a little.

Easy * that wouldn't go a miss. Literally we squander tens of millions now to the tax man, could easily have used some of it to spruce the place up instead of hoarding the cash with the response when asked why, "dunno"

Aye it needs a lot of work done to it. Hot water in the toilets would be a good start.

No question redoing the main stand and a general updating of the stadium is very much needed. Certainly I could excuse the large sums being hoarded in the bank if they were clearly been ear marked for stadium redevelopment that would make sense. But clearly they are just been hoarded for hoardings sake not to develop the club off the field.

It is the most visual example of celtic being overtaken by "world class" teams. But even a lick of paint, some basic cosmetic improvements like fixing the banners, and fixing the toilets would go a long way. Another example I guess of our standards being so lowered we see hot running water and a few banners as an ambitious ask.

I’d far rather see £10 million spent on the long term future of the club such as youth development, scouting system, training facilities, stadium redevelopment etc than see £10 million being spunked on Arnie * Engels.

Could get an Arne Engels for about £2m if oir scouting wasn't so pish. Probably players in our league more suited to playing for us than him.

The shittest of all arguments. Let’s not spend 10 million on a Belgian international with the potential to treble it because I would rather paint some metal poles.

Thankfully life will never be so black and white.
