He was still behind Maeda, Shin and Kenny.

If he's knocked it back then I'd say he has * his own career. If he's above championship then show it and get a better move in January.

Grand old team to play for
He may well have fancied himself to get in front of Shin and Kenny.

Or he might not have fancied the team who were in for him, or he could have wanted to train with us for half a year before going on loan.

All just speculation anyway, but could be plenty of understandable reasons why he'd knock back a loan move.

When this guy came in the amount of media coverage from the club was enough to convince you he’d have a chance of making the first team.

    Exactly what it was.

I'm a bit, without being personal to the kid, disappointed that he's signed for us and accepted the B squad level.
He's 19, about to be 20 in less than 4 weeks time, was scoring fairly well (14 in 23) last season at PL2 level

You gotta ask - what was he sold on to make the switch from PL2 and the chance to be spotted by a Prem or Championship club, to believe B Squad Celtic games against plumbers and brickies was the way forward for his career?

Absolutely the definition of "club signing" and not the manager. Don't care if Rodgers eventually says "aye sign him" after the clubs presented another project signing, he's letting the club do what they want for the future but if it ain't gonna disrupt his current season squad, he ain't giving a * (rightly).

But again, back to Osmand - what's he been sold to make such a switch at his age to our B squad? What does he think he's got or likely to gain at that level that the likes of Doak before him told the club to go * themselves with?

Not questioning his ambition, but merely believing that he's been sold a lie, like Rodgers when he came back, and the poor lad has probably set his career back 3 seasons just by being here even for one season.

Little I saw of him thought he looked promising. You do wonder how long he'll stick about if he has any ambition at all. Hard to see him making any positive progress here.

Rodgers spoke last year of wanting a young guy to be the 3rd choice striker. He 100% fits that bill and was likely sold that idea. While thinking he's only 1 injury away from being 2nd choice, being on the bench and getting 20 - 25 mins in games particularly if we are ahead. Then gives him platform to o go and impress and push his way to more regularly game time.

On paper all of that sounds ideal for the lad and is a step up from where he was at. However, himself, his agent or his family didn't do the right due diligence on how we operate as a club and he now finds himself as 5th choice striker due to * knows who signing Shin and our usual incompetence in the transfer market meaning we didn't get the 2 1st team strikers Rodgers was wanting all summer so we have ended up also keeping Jonny Kenny to basically just hang around in case of either the want away Maeda going in such a huff that his dip in form made him completely unplayable or in case our after the window panic signing was so unfit he took months to get up to speed. Thankfully neither of those 2 scenarios were the case but it does mean the stunting of Kenny's development for 6 months when he should of been out on loan.

There are rumours that Osmand was offered chance to go out on loan and rejected it. It may be the case he's looked at Shin and Kenny in training and thinks he's better than both and decided to back himself to get ahead of them. Unfortunately for him Rodgers doesn't really work that way and while likely continue to use Kenny as 3rd choice even tho it's painfully obvious to most people that he's never going to make it here.

If, and it's a * massive if, we get out * together in time for January window i still think there's a possibility for Osmand to then become the 3rd choice striker he was likely promised 6 months ago.

That younger third choice striker role has gone to Kenny.

That is where Brendans sees this lad

    All fair as well.

He's, somehow, badly judged what he was coming to.
But then, even if he is sold the above (quite believable narrative Ryan), why has the club then signed another club type player in Shin and offered Kenny the new deal?
None of that makes any * sense by the club - other than them not givin a * and flooding the squad with project *.

Top it all off with the fact we never properly chased a real first pick striker all summer til AFTER the window, which will then clearly have shot Osmand further down the pecking order.

Funny enough, the brief time we did see of the lad in pre season, he played off the left wing and looked to have something to his game - naturally we signed another * two left wingers :56:
But he also has something I like about his style that could suit a 10 role, which we sorely miss (along with an actual natural number 6).

There is, I believe, a place in a fair squad for Osmand, but not while we now have 4 left wingers (Jota, Maeda, Tounekti, Baliswishka) and 3 strikers (ihaenacho, shin, Kenny) all ahead of him.
How we managed to go from having next to no attacking options to flooding the left/central positions with utter dross (for the whole) is truly Celtic levels of stupidity.

Yeah from outside looking in, Brendan wanted Kenny from that role and the club wanted to shoehorn Osmand into that role. A small window into our summer window that.

Feel Shin was also the club knowing Maeda was away and wanting to sign him and another to replace Maeda and Brendan wasnt wearing it and the rest of the window unraveled from there

    Which gives the fear.

If the club got it all their way, with maeda, Kyogo potentially have left the building etc

We could be running with Osmand and Shin as the main strikers, no right winger and probably just Balikwisha out left.

Feels like Rodgers had to force it to get even just Tounekti and then Ihaenacho in the door.

Think you've hit the nail on the head mate. The way they see it is 3 cheap punt's only increases the chances of 1 of them being half decent and being able to sell for a profit.

Kenny would have been cheap enough to give a new deal but I'd think the plan was another loan in the hope he'd attract enough interest to get a decent offer.
I said at the time I didn't see the point in the Shin signing as by that time we already had both Kenny and Osmand to fill that 3rd choice striker role and I didn't see Shin as being good enough to be 1 of the 2 senior options.

It's just another example of why recruitment should be handled by DoF and manager rather than * in suits who have no idea about football.

It's the Shved one million wingers situation all over again.

Hes 22 he's too old to be the 3rd choice striker Rodgers spoke about. When he spoke of it last year it was Rocco Vata, he was talking about a young player ie 18/19.

Kenny obviously isn't old but he is for that role, at his age and after his time at Shamrock he should be playing regular 1st team football. He's played 16 minutes since the window shut. That's absolutely no benefit to him whatsoever. However if you flip that to Osmand he'd likely be quite happy getting his 1st 16 mins of senior football and would be looking to build on it in the coming months when we will be playing 3 games a week up until Xmas. Again I'd imagine that's the plan he was sold on
