    Why ?

If our defence was the major issue, then yes. But it isn't. We have plenty of CB cover without him.

I thought it was obvious from what I said.

If he's a better player. Is why. Defence isn't a major concern but if he can defend as well as any player we have whilst also being better on the ball then he should play. It's simple. A big part of our issues at the moment is inability to play out from the back efficiently and carry the ball. By all accounts that's supposedly one of his best attributes.

He might be nae use. But I'd rather see him a few times.

People seem to have something against him already, based on a celtic underground rumour and some Instagram posts.

It's not really weird when you consider it's our fanbase tbf. Mental.

He's not in the Europa squad, he's not needed for the Scottish games, as it stands.
If we get a few injuries and need him, then fine, but as it stands he's just pointless

Speaking for myself I have absolutely nothing against the lad. I simply think his loan signing with no option to buy was just another detail in the horror show that this summers window was. Not on the level of the failure to sign wingers and strikers but still a move that should IMHO never have been made. Dane Murray was and is more then capable as back up to CCV and he is our own player. So for instance if CCV is rested this weekend I want it to be Murray who starts instead not JSP.

Personally I would rather Dane Murray get another start.

Just feels like another nonsensical transfer to add to the list of nonsensical transfers. He will float about for a while, barely kick a ball, and then go home. Same likely to be true for Shin and Inamura. At least he is only a loan deal.

Some quotes from Brendan about him today

Brendan Rodgers has issued an update on Jahmai Simpson-Pusey's situation at Celtic, with the Manchester City loanee still waiting to make his debut for the club.

Having featured at points last season for Pep Guardiola's first team, the 19-year-old made the move to Scotland in search of more game time. However, the current PL2 Player of the Year has yet to make an appearance for his new side, having also been omitted from Celtic's Europa League squad list.

Previewing his side's upcoming trip to Firhill to face Partick Thistle, Rodgers provided clarity on the young defender's status at his loan club. "I think it was a medium to longer-term signing we were looking at with young Jahmai," he said.

"We had our centre-halves in place, but he was a young player who we saw as a talent. He has come in, but the team have defended well in the main. He is here for the 12 months, at least, to show what he can do.

It is not easy to come into a club like Celtic, because you still have to earn your position in the team. You're coming into a new environment from his club, so it just takes time - it is that adaptation.

"Liam Scales and Cameron Carter-Vickers have been doing really well. Dane Murray has been great over the course of pre-season. We've still got Auston Trusty, who is just coming back from injury.

"The competition is there, and you have to earn your place. I'm really pleased with his development and how he has been moving in the right direction with adapting to the intensity of how we work and play, as well as moving away from Manchester.

"I'm pretty sure that over the course of the season, when that opportunity comes, he'll be ready."

Maybe if he’d had 10 minutes or so off the bench every now and then he could have shown if he is potentially better than what we have? Can’t even get on the bench so that’s going to be tricky

Rodgers doesn’t like changing the centre backs too much, so I’m not surprised he’s not getting thrown into games. He’ll probably get a 5 minute cameo against Falkirk in December, look decent, then get bombed out again.

Problem for him is he has no case because we have been perfect defensively

No point having a guy on loan as 5th choice centre half. Needs sent back, especially when we arent conceding goals.

Manchester City have NO plans to recall Jahmai Simpson-Pusey from his Celtic loan deal in January.
The central defender, 19, has failed to establish himself at Parkhead since he made his move back in early August.

He is actually yet to make a first-team appearance under manager Brendan Rodgerswith a lack of fitness being cited as an issue early in his Celtic Park stint.

Simpson-Pusey had been dealing with a knock when he arrived, but has since recovered, albeit he is still not match fit. And that is understood to be the main delay to the player being involved on matchdays.

Cameron Carter-Vickers is the Hoops’ main man at centre-half but his partner has been chopped and changed at times in recent seasons.

The much-improved Liam Scales has been consistent alongside CCV while Auston Trusty has been the understudy this season so far.

And Simpson-Pusey – who still has manager Rodgers as a fan – will have to oust the pair ahead of him if he is to stand a chance of regular minutes.

We at CeltsAreHere can also confirm that there is NO future transfer option included in the deal despite uncertainty.

Thats the good relationship with City knackered you’d think.

Very surprised he hasn’t been first choice tbh, you’d think he’d only been sent here as the PL2 player of the year with first team experience if he was a starter here and he’s looking like potentially 5th choice centre half

If he's been carrying a knock, and still isn't match fit, then that would explain the lack of first team action. Given that Man City are happy to leave him here, tells me they are ok with this

Murray's less than inspiring cameo v Braga might give Rodgers second thoughts perhaps.
