Should never even be muttered in the same breath as Taylor. Greg was a complete different level than him.

ralston is a sunday league footballer. Always has been. Absolutely terrible one v one defender and is horrendous on the ball. His first thought is always to turn back and play it to the centre half. One of the worst footballers (relative to position) that weve ever had.

Shouldn’t be starting, except when there’s no other option.

My mistake. Taylor was far better than just 100% effort and commitment though, which is pretty much all Ralston is. He’s a died in the wool tim, who ticks a quota box and would run through a brick wall for the team when he plays but if we were a serious football club he’d have been shown the door long ago and he wouldn’t even get into another premiership team. * I’d not be shocked if there was right backs in the championship better than him.

Taylor and Ralston don’t even belong on the same post is my point I suppose.

Ralston has always been inconsistent with celtic. I feel like if he was given a chance of a more consistent run of games when he was younger he would be a completely different player. Unfortunately that didn't happen and I think he has ran his course with celtic. A loyal, committed player who loves the club but for his own career, I think he needs to move on now.

His part in their second goal was hilarious. Genuinely don't think I've seen someone turn as slow as that

Out his depth playing for us, not good enough and never has been. Home grown rule has kept him about years longer than it should have. Can't fault his effort but I'm sick of the sight of him.

He's a far better player than he's given credit for.

He’s not, he’s a good guy to have about a squad for a number of reasons but he has limitations that will see him never be first pick for Celtic or Scotland and rightly so.

Played his part when called upon. Can't ask much more than that. Thought he was good. Was at the match. Pretty enjoyable stuff.

Didn't say he should but he's a solid backup for us who has to come in out the cold on a regular basis and rarely if ever lets us down. His contribution in the attacking third is good, his defending at domestic level is solid.

Yet for some reason he is the easy target for fan abuse. We drew at home to Hibs a few weeks back, he had a solid game and defended well but we just couldn't put away the numerous chances we created that day. Low and behold the usual suspects were queuing up for Ralston and in a 0-0 draw where we created numerous chances we didn't take and barely gave Hibs a sniff, it was our backup RB being bizarrely singled out.

He is a solid backup option and far better than a lot of fans give him credit for. A lot in our fan base are quite willing to overlook AJs errors of which there are quite a few - particularly v Rangers.

I find it funny to live in a world that I live in a world where some of our fanbase feel as if James Forrest is a Celtic legend whereas Ralston was lucky to have played for Celtic. There's actually a fair chance that Ralston will earn more Scottish caps than Forrest now.

You said he was far better player than he’s given credit for, the general consensus is he’s a solid backup who’s technically limited. If he’s far better than that the suggestion would be he should be a starter or at least a starting option with everyone fit. He isn’t.

I don't know what Celtic forums you read but the general consensus is far from he's a solid backup. Have a read back through this thread and look at the huge volumes of completely OTT virtriol he gets, he's a whipping boy regardless of how well he plays.

He's a far better player than he's given credit for, he rarely lets us down and deserves far more credit than he gets.

He's a very limited player who gives his all which can occasionally get him through some games but is another player who shouldn't be a first choice for us.

You only need read this thread to see the abuse he gets, rarely is anything positive said about him when the bottom line is he comes in and does his job very effectively in difficult situations.

As I said our starting RB makes plenty of high profile errors in big games and gets away with little criticism. I don't have any issue with AJ, he's been a very good signing and consistent performer but he too has his weaknesses and limitations but as he's a £3.5m signing from the MLS - they are overlooked.

Our fanbase is full of extreme views. I just can't get that the same people who view Ralston as nowhere near good enough for the Celtic shirt can deem a guy like James Forrest a Celtic legend - that's the level of extemities we deal with here. The truth lies somewhere in the middle - Ralston is a lot better than he is given credit for and Forrest is nowhere near as good as he has been given credit for.

There’s not a single individual in the Celtic squad past or present that hasn’t recieved abuse on here, the general consensus is he can do a job within a squad. Thats his level, he’s not far better than most think he just is what he is.

Its actually wild how in the real world what that means. I played pal stuff against a boy who plays in the 2nd division... impossible to even get the ball off him. Id love to play against an actual top level guy just to experience the pish ripping.
