Feyenoord V Celtic legends

Feyenoord will play a Legends Match against Celtic at De Kuip on Sunday, October 12th. Heroes from both clubs will face off in a special match, the proceeds of which will benefit the Feyenoord Foundation.

Both clubs are committed to raising money for the Feyenoord Foundation's social projects . Feyenoord and Celtic, who share a historic bond, will compete on October 12th for the Wim Jansen Cup. This trophy is named after the former player, who passed away in early 2022 and holds iconic status at both clubs.




A squad full of Feyenoord Legends
The Feyenoord Legends squad is already taking shape. The team will face the legends of Celtic, led by Bert van Marwijk, UEFA Cup winner with the club in 2002. The names that have already been confirmed: Graziano Pellè, Dirk Kuyt, Royston Drenthe, Daryl Janmaat, André Bahia, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Karim El Ahmadi, Patrick Paauwe, Salomon Kalou, Ruben Schaken, Hossam Ghaly, Nuri Şahin, Eljero Elia, Jan-Arie van der Heijden, Pierre van Hooijdonk and Glenn Loovens. The rest of the squad will be announced at a later stage.

Together for the Feyenoord Foundation
The Legends Match will feature the iconic song that unites both clubs: You'll Never Walk Alone . A message that also fits perfectly with the purpose of this event. All proceeds from this match will therefore benefit the Feyenoord Foundation, the driving force behind the club's social policy. For years, Feyenoord, with the support of partners and supporters, has been actively involved in projects focused on healthy living and talent development in Rotterdam and its surrounding area.

Pre-match support and sporting activities:
During this match, De Kuip will be packed with action not only on the pitch but also off it. Before kickoff, a lively pre-match support program will be organized. The stadium's outer ring will host a variety of fun and unique activities, including football games, sporting challenges, and other social activities. It's a great opportunity to get in the mood with other supporters before the match kicks off.

Ticket Sales Information:
Tickets for the Legends Match go on sale today (Thursday) exclusively for season ticket holders at the official Feyenoord Ticket Shop . They will have a four-day priority period and can purchase a maximum of four tickets per season ticket. Open ticket sales will begin at noon on August 18th, giving everyone the opportunity to buy tickets and contribute directly to the Feyenoord Foundation's social projects. Tickets are available from €18.

This Sunday, October 12, 2025, Celtic FC Foundation will be taking the Celtic FC Legends side on the road, as they get set to face Feyenoord Legends at De Kuip. It promises to be a fantastic encounter with the sides competing for the Wim Jansen Cup.

The trophy is, of course, named after the legendary former player and manager, who sadly passed away in early 2022 and holds iconic status at both clubs.

Following on from the recent Legends match at Celtic Park in September, which saw the Bhoys defeat Manchester United on a penalty shoot-out, the Celtic Legends side will be back in action for this wonderful occasion, in support of the Feyenoord Foundation.

The Celtic squad will feature Artur Boruc, Lukasz Zaluska, Charlie Mulgrew, Kelvin Wilson, Efe Ambrose, Cristian Gamboa, Lee Naylor, Jonny Hayes, Stiliyan Petrov, Bobby Petta, Ross Wallace, Scott Brown, Barry Robson, Simon Donnelly, Derek Riordan, Georgios Samaras and Scott McDonald. Glenn Loovens and Pierre van Hooijdonk will feature for both sides on the day, having spent time at each club during their careers.

The Feyenoord Legends squad will include a number of De Kuip greats, including Nuri Şahin, Graziano Pellè, Salomon Kalou, Johan Elmander, Eljero Elia and Dirk Kuyt.

 

I know its all in a good cause so its all good but I thought a few of the Celtic names were interesting considering how little they actually played for us. I guess Gamboa and Riordan for instance must have a real affection for the club even though their own personal moves to Celtic didn't really work out for them.
