Where's our Belgium midfielder, you know, the one the cost the club £11 million and hasn't kicked his * yet? . Seriously, not getting selected by his country, even for friendlies, just shows how bad a signing he was

You don't need him to not get picked by Belgium to tell you that.

It's been evident for a very long time.

Didn’t see Kenny got called up, good for him. Ireland must be on their knees if that’s the bar for a striker getting called up.

Got called up after Parrot pulled out.

I mean Idah was in the original squad so that tells you how good their strikers options are if a traffic cone can get a game

Ferguson and Parrott are both very good to be fair though. Idah as a third choice, is better than anything Scotland have upfront for example

Comparing strikers to Scottish ones is a very low bar.

Adams although he’s better than him, our best option is Dykes. Adam’s isn’t all that good despite being a better player, and Dykes is the option because our actual goal threats can push up because the one thing he can do, be a target and the ball bounce off him. It’s why our scorers are midfielders, was McGinn at first until he was recognised as the only threat then McCtominay afterwards.

It’s not a coincidence rhe results took a dive when he was out.

That and for maybe 18 months we were down to possibly 4th choice defence.

Googled Evan Ferguson there though. Mad he’s still only 20. If Italy sorts his injuries out, based on no evidence to back it up except it feels like something the Italians would be good at, I think they will.

At least for a hatty against us

List of players away playing international football this week

This week marks the beginning of the October international break, the second of three breaks in the 2025/26 campaign before the turn of the year.
As teams push for 2026 World Cup qualification, there are 11 Celts on international duty with their nations.
Both Anthony Ralston and Kieran Tierney have been named in Steve Clarke’s squad, who will take on Greece and Belarus, both at Hampden Park.

Across the water, Liam Scales is also in action for Ireland after heading over to join up with his international team-mates.

Benjamin Nygren has taken to life as an international player well, having already scored for his nation for the first time in the summer.

Two of our goalkeepers will be on international duty in Europe, with Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo joining up with Denmark and Finland respectively.

Although Sebastian Tounekti and Tunisia face qualifying matches this break, they have in fact already qualified for the competition in the US next summer.

Another nation who have already qualified is Japan, and Daizen Maeda will once again join up with his country as they play out two friendly matches.

After a sterling start with Celtic, Marcelo Saracchi has been recalled to the Uruguay squad for friendlies against the Dominican Republic and Uzbekistan in Malaysia.

As hosts of the tournament next summer, USA also have their spot at the World Cup, and Cameron Carter-Vickers is back in the squad.

There is representation at under-21s, with Colby Donovan representing the Scottish national team once more.

    • Anthony Ralston – Scotland
    • Kieran Tierney – Scotland
    • Liam Scales – Ireland
    • Benjamin Nygren – Sweden
    • Viljami Sinisalo – Finland
    • Kasper Schmeichel – Denmark
    • Sebastian Tounetki – Tunisia
    • Cameron Carter-Vickers – USA
    • Daizen Maeda – Japan
    • Marcelo Saracchi – Uruguay
    • Colby Donovan – Scotland U21s

Probably says it all that 8 of the players off on international duty are keepers or defenders and 3 are midfielders or attackers.

Hopefully Nigeria continues to not select Iheanacho.. or the African Nations will be a difficult period for us.

Obviously no sign of Balikwisha's paperwork coming through yet.

Good thing for us with regards to Iheanacho is that Nigeria are stocked with strikers in the mould of Osimhen, Boniface, the guy at Pzlen and the chap Wolves just signed amongst others. He'd really need to take fire in the next month or so to have any chance of the squad you'd think.

Was there not something about Ben McPherson being called up to the Scotland squad too?
