Celtic are looking to appoint a new head of business operations - with the primary aim to help improve relations with the club’s support.

The Hoops board has come under fire again in recent months over a perceived lack of investment in the squad, which saw Brendan Rodgers’ side fail to qualify for the Champions League proper.

There have been a number of protests in recent games although the last two were cancelled after board members agreed to meet with selected individuals from the fanbase on Monday evening.

The champions are looking to try and improve relations and the first step is the appointment of a New Head of Business operations.

They have already put it out to a recruitment company to advertise for the new post.

The advert states: "This role is fundamental to ensuring that supporter services are delivered in a way which ensures a world class supporter service is in place.

“It will encompass a broad range of supporter services, including the oversight of all retail operations, ticketing, hospitality sales and stadium services.

“The individual will play a key role in ensuring our supporters are able to share in the success and experience of being part of Celtic through multi-channel engagement across the club.”

The new appointment will face a tough job. Unhappiness amongst the support led to the formation of the Celtic Fans Collective.

More than 400 groups have signed up to the Collective, since they wrote an open letter questioning the direction of the club under its current board.

The Celtic support staged a protest at Kilmarnock, as some of them waited until the 12th minute to enter Rugby Park.

The Collective then held a 12th minute silence in the goal-less draw with Hibs and similar protests were planned for the European game with Braga and last weekend’s Premiership clash with Motherwell.

The last two were called off after Celtic officials agreed to their meeting on Monday.

Some supporters, however, managed to sneak a banner in front of the Celtic director’s area, during the Motherwell game, which read: “F*** the meeting, resign.”

Celtic chief executive officer Michael Nicholsonhad indicated at the meeting on Monday that the club will look to improve communication with their fanbase.

Manager Rodgers had previously called for unity ahead of the meeting, knowing it will give his side their best chance of success this season.
