Replacing the Taylor role is the key reason to change to a 4231.

Last season we essentially played with 2 sitting midfielders when building the play, McGregor and Taylor. McGregor is far too isolated now and is far too easy for opposition to close off passing lanes to him, meaning the CBs are then struggling to move the ball on.

I agree it's also a shape that would suit all 6 of our midfielders and probably Balikwisha than the current set up does.
Rodgers has spoken about Balikwisha and Nygren being 10s yet refuses to play with a 10. 2 of our biggest summer signings signed to play out of position. Mental

Also feel having 2 sitters as opposed to just McGregor would make us harder to play through. Especially in Europe.

At this point everything points to this being our most suitable formation and it's either down to stubbornness or incompetence that we are not playing it.

Christie's emergence and our brief upturn in form coincided with our ageing, struggling captain getting injured. It may take something similar this year too

Sacking him due to performances would be a nonsense, but I do think we need a proper strategy in place before January.

If Rodgers isnt signing a new contract and we have several players wanting to leave, then we need a plan going into the next window. If we are still 2nd in the league, or neck and neck, and near the bottom of the europa league then losing Rodgers in December isnt a bad move. It allows a new face to bed in and allows him to bring in new faces. Might give the squad a bit of a boost given how flat everything feels at the moment.

Otherwise we either use Rodgers leaving in the summer as an excuse to allow guys like Maeda leave in January without replacing them (not unthinkable that could include guys like Hatate and CCV as well). Or we allow Rodgers a budget in January to try and convince players to join while he is leaving a few months later.

The alternative strategy is for Rodgers to stick around, hopefully limp over the finish line, and then a new face in the summer basically gets to rebuild the whole team. Im not sure that is better than being pro active.

    Sack the Board
Your last paragraph seems most likely from both the boards and Rodgers stated positions.

The boards not proactive so will just let things happen and Rodgers has constantly stated he'll do the 3 years regardless.

Don't see either of those things changing in the next few months.

Aye, an elite minded club would have a succession plan in place.......

If you were to sack Rodgers it would make the next managers task nigh on impossible, the demands would be unrealistic.

Play great fitbaw every game and win every trophy isn't living in the real world, that said we do look flat and the dark cloud of the transfer window is still hanging over the club.

There's a real lack of creativity, we badly needed another striker, yet again we signed a number of squad players who will barely see the light of day, really poor recruitment, not even the carrot of the CL was enough to put a rocket up the Board's *.

Aye there's no way he's getting sacked, and so he shouldn't. We're dealing with enough just now.

I am, however, looking forward to bringing in someone new next year.

For me his biggest weakness is not accepting the fact he is a good head coach and not a good football manager. He can come into teams and start to get the best out of players, but as soon as he has to start replacing players that have been sold things tend to go to * because he is generally a poor judge of what type of player is actually required to improve the team.

In a well run club where there is a proper modern scouting and recruitment system, and he actually let them do their jobs, he'd actually do well long term. Unfortunately we aren't a well run club and his ego won't let a recruitment team do their job anyway, so it's better he goes sooner rather than later before things get even worse.

Personally I'd let him go now, get someone else in so they have the January window to start building something for next season. But we are so unprofessional we won't have contingency plans for that scenario, so we'll no doubt just plod on and leave it all until the last minute as usual and just hope it all somehow just works out like with Ange.

Why are people even entertaining the idea of sacking him? This is the end goal of the hoax which is presented in front of us.

Because folk now are glossing over the colossal failings of the board and our absolutely disgrace of a recruitment team and starting to blame Rodgers because we're look a worse team on the pitch. Despite the board and the recruitment team being the major reason for that. Its really quite a pathetic stance, even if you look at the results in complete isolation while some of them are poor, Kairat and Braga in particular, its not even close to "sack the manager" form.

Because people are incredibly stupid. Even if you are not Rodgers biggest fan, it's mental to think we'd get more success this season by replacing him now.

Rodgers has become part of the problem not the solution. The entire club needs new, talented and dynamic people to move us forward. The board, coaching team, recruitment department, playing squad, youth set-up, stadium, media....the list goes on and it all needs upgrading.

Rodgers prophesied the hoax itself a few months back when he said when the board come under fire it’s usually the manager who pays the price.

Folk need to wake up and smell the coffee.

Keep saying it. He has no answers in how to get us going again..

    There's nothing there..

The Maeda right wing experiment has never looked good. Ralston back in. The formation. The central midfield he can't get a tune or balanac out of any of it..

There's big problems above and moving forward but he genuinely doesn't know what to do..

This has to be a springboard now. Showed steel and determination to come back and win.

Needs to settle on a team and work on the tempo of the passing and intensity of the press.
