Having AJ and Jota back will be a huge boost

Flat out 2 of our best and most important players. Not having them in the team at the moment is a massive loss.

    Fresh update from Brendan today

Alistair Johnson will hopefully be joining us soon, but clearly not ready yet.

Good news sounds like his recovery is going well. The sooner he is back in full training and ready the better to put it mildly. Donovan has been great but Johnston is for me still one of our best players currently.

We’ve been really missing him and the way he supports the right winger. Colby has shown a bit of that but it’s not nearly as refined as AJ.

No question we have really missed Johnston. Delighted with what I have seen from Donovan so far but Johnston is the finished article so to speak and was in great form too the first few games of the season before he got injured. Can't wait for him to be back.

The Celtic boss also set out a possible return timeline for Alistair Johnston.

The full-back has been out injured since the first leg of the Champions League play-off tie against Kairat Almaty.

Johnston had to be taken off on a stretcher with a hamstring injury and was ruled out for 12 weeks after a scan on the issue.

However, Rodgers has now stated that the defender is set to rejoin his team-mates in the build-up to the match against Dundee on October 19, after the international break.

He said: "Ali Johnston will join us probably the week leading into Dundee after the international break, but he is working really well

Thats good news. Sounds like we may have him back then before the League Cup semi-final which would be a real boost.

He’s probably been fit all this time and not injured

Probably just wanted a rest after the busy summer

Jokes aside that is the one silver lining possibility out of this injury lay off for Johnston. Given his international commitments with Canada Johnston has hardly had any break at all over the past couple of seasons so hopefully when Johnston is back fully fit from the enforced break it might actually have an extra benefit from a freshness standpoint.

    Amazing news.

Dont want to rush him back though. Guy has basically played non stop or been injured. Hardly had a rest.

But great hes back. Great player and great character in tye squad

CANADA boss Jesse Marsch has revealed Celtic star Alistair Johnston is set to make an ‘early return’ to action after his recent injury.

And he is desperate to include him in his squad for their friendlies next month.

The Hoops right back has been sidelined with a hamstring injury he picked up in Celtic‘s Champions League elimination to Kairat Almaty in August.

Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers stated last week he expects the experienced full back to return after the international break.

And his international boss Marsch wants to include him for Canada‘s two friendlies next month against Ecuador in Toronto and Venezuela in Florida, USA.

He said: “Alistair is already starting to get on the pitch and do some individual work.

“And that should bode well for him potentially making an early return and being available for our games in November.”

That's scandalous and the club should complain if he gets to play for Canada first after a long lay off and doesn't start his recovery from injury with us, say they rush him back and he breaks down injured again, we're the ones who pays his wages FFS :31:
