We play calmac who continually insists on drpping 20 yards to take the ball off our CBs and then give it to a full back who then has one less body to find in the middle of the park. So high chance it's back to GK CB or back to McGregor.

Very little creativity in our midfield. They all seem very similar types. No runs beyond the front man. No runs into the box. No defence splitting passes. No pace. No strength in the tackle.
We desperately need a couple of playmakers in that squad, of the likes of a Nakamura type player.
Something needs to change, because the engine room of the team is well below the standard needed.

We have no forward line and a * poor midfield the summer has absolutely * us. I don't even see an obvious change to make folk say go 2 up top when we can barely play 1 up top

This is it IMHO. Regardless of whether you blame the board for it or both Rodgers and the board, the fact is that we have made a 7-figure profit on player trading every single window since Rodgers came back*.

I really don't think enough is made of this. It's not that we don't spend money on players; we don't even spend zero. We operate a model that requires us to suck vast sums of money (£10 million plus per window) away from transfers to fund other things (at best) or possibly just to sit in the bank. For all the anger at the board, I'm genuinely surprised this doesn't get more comment.

Yes, you expect to make a big profit in some windows and yes, occasionally you will get a bargain like O'Riley or Kühn, but you can't rely on that happening consistently. if you consistently ship out 7-figures more talent than you bring in 5 windows in a row and you don't replace key players who are aging either (e.g. McGregor), then the current team can't be a surprise.

    * If you count Abada, who left a little outside the usual window.

Another thing is that if the huns had qualified for the Champions league (stop sniggering at the back) they would have went out and blown a good proportion of it before the window closed................in the same scenario we would have sat in our boardroom with the calculators

Also, zero leaders in the squad. Nobody to the gee them up or grab them by the scruff of the neck.

Past celtic sides have played wi a style of the manager. Whats the style now. There's no defining characteristics other than boring and impotent.

Pure *. No legs, creativity or physicality, specifically in the midfield. Cbs who aren't comfortable playing the ball at pace in a heavily possession based style where they have a lot of the ball which just plays us into trouble even under very little pressing. By contrast other teams even domestically can bounce passes to get through our press and leave us exposed. We take an age to do anything, even throw ins, we're also * and non threatening from set pieces and the ball often ends up going back the way to start the same cycle of turgid pish. It's so * and boring and there's probably lots more I've missed or just can't be bothered typing.

Sell your best players and in some instances don’t even bother to replace them. Kuhn’s replacement still hasn’t arrived. Sold Kyogo then Idah and when the window closed hadn’t replaced either of them. Players who want away and thought they were going are still here as we are incapable of acting like a professional football club. Fans protesting against the rat * running us. One of the rats in particular, the dirtiest one of all Lawwell giving out stories to the paper about the manager.

It’s little wonder we are pish to be honest. It’s a * circus show.

Teams used to * themselves with Kyogo's movement. Even if he wasn't scoring, he was causing havoc. Now with Daizen off form, that leaves only Tounekti.

We also miss AJ, who always finds excellent positions. It'll probably improve when Jota is back, but it shows the squad we have is miles off it.

Lennon's last (maybe second last) season first time around
We'd just sold Hooper, Commons had lost his spark and just shot from range. Stokes couldn't play without his mate and Samaras had one good game in three. Every game felt like a drag to find a goal.

    And somehow this feels worse

It is still early, so there is time to get things moving. To put it into some recent historical context, the start to Ange's first season (21/22) we were on 9 points after the first 6 games - W3 L3 - (compared to the 14 we are on now), and while we hadn't found a proper groove there was a couple of 6-0's that showed there was something there to buy into.

By contrast, the disasterous 20/21 season started well, with 17 goals scored in the first 6 games before things began to go awry, or the other side of the coin in 18/19, we started slow with just 7 goals in the first 6 league games, and while never hitting the heights and disrupted by BR departure, Celtic still won the League.

FWIW, right now, there are SIX teams in the Premiership who have scored more that Celtic (8), with Hearts (15), United (11), Hibs (10), Killie, Livi & M'well (9) all having scored more.

every single person that posted on the summer transfer window thread knew what the team needed to improve and we got * all , in fact when was the last time we left a transfer window stronger than we entered it ,ange's first season sticks out like a sore thumb in 2 decades on mismanagement

We desperately miss Kyogo's movement in creating space.

He was on the decline but the decline started not long after he left.

It was awful tonight. It made us sit back even further. Literally camped ourselves in our own half. I've never seen a Celtic side do that before and hopefully never see it again.

A couple years back, we looked at Souza, which was the right type of player and thing to do. That didnt work out, yet haven't addressed this since. Another failure to address the balance of our side.

Needs a major shakeup in personnel and system to freshen it up and shake this malaise.

I really like Donovan but AJ coming back will be huge too.

Like the idea of a 3421.

Last night watching every player that played or came on. Who would you miss if they weren’t there?

Fine with this too tbh maybe barring Engels.

Do like a fullback as one of the CBs to move forward with the ball.
