It's the only thing that makes sense to me. Why else would we have had such a * transfer window.

I would love to rip the head off of lawel and * down his neck, but the law does't allow it.

Of course I might have got it all wrong, but in the absence of evidence otherwise, I have to conclude he's an old firm loving *.

So just me then. I'd be interested to hear any other explanations.

I do believe that the Board want an "Old Firm" and they prefer it if there is a title race which makes it interesting for the Sky Sports tv deal but they don't want to believe that the vast majority of our fanbase have moved on from this dead rivalry and would prefer to have no association with any form of Rangers.

The Old Firm died when Rangers 1872-2012 died.

To the vast majority of the fanbase the derby isn’t the biggest game in the league? That’s definitely false, in a two horse race that’s just inevitable (I’m aware they’re 8th currently but it’s one of their worst starts ever and I still struggle to see them being anything other than 2nd). Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t. The ticket demand and viewership numbers say all you need to know.

From a pure business perspective i suspect they like the money that the Glasgow derby brings in. What the league actually needs is a strong Hearts, Aberdeen, Hibs, Dundee United and SEVCO all playing young players and developing them and selling on to other clubs throughout Europe. The board if it was wise would realise that SEVCO are not equals or the bench mark nowadays, our benchmark is Ajax, Benfica, Bruges, Sporting etc we should be building a team capable of a good run in Europe and qualifying EVERY year for Europe.

I just think its arrogance and incompetence above all else. I don't think there is any grand plan or scheme to it. I just think our board are paralysed with fear and require the competence and work ethic to put the money they are hoarding to use.

    Nah
From a business perspective qualification for the champions league is really the golden goose, not whatever the 'old firm' means. They are just arrogant and bad at their respective jobs.

No, they're just unambitious and risk-averse.

The way they are running the club I'm beginning to believe some are sevco fans especially with the money we have in the bank and making a * of a few transfer windows .

For the fans yes but not for the board. I don't think the board deserve to call the derby the Glasgow derby as they are extremely obsessed with the huns.

That of course is a very logical answer, get the CL money and the "old firm" doesn't matter.
However as I see it, if we - that is those who make descisions- wanted to be in the CL, then we'd be there.

We've been watching Balikwisha almost since he's been born, so he could have been in earlier, Nygren could have been in earlier and had more time to settle, we could even have signed another striker, even if it meant still having Idah as well.

But we did none of those things, and for the sake of just one goal find ourselves in the Europa.

So who's responsible ? Is it Rodgers who's thinking a good Europa run, rather that a few CL scuddings will stand him in better stead when it's time to move on ?

Is it the board who think we can't have a domestic one horse race as the TV companies and sponsors will lose interest.

    Or is it something/somebody else?

For me it's the board and their opinion that we have to keep the huns relevant.

If the board had backed Rodgers, I think he'd have been happy to have another decent go at the CL, but they didn't.

I think we massively overstating the value of the TV deal relative to Celtics revenue, and also the general pull of the old firm brand nowadays.

In April 24 in the 3-3 game, there was a peak of 1.4m viewers on sky platforms which was a SPFL record. The was still below the average game in the English Premier League which is around 1.5m. For sky we offer at absolute peak, the old firm offers a product that is slightly below the average EPL game.

I dont think the board are sitting round a table figuring out how to maximise that rivalry to get a few extra thousand people tuning in, meanwhile consciously giving up champions league money. They are just incompetent.

On a side note, I do believe that the only way celtic will become better under this board is if rangers get better.

See in Facebook comments and what have you there are always some premier league dicks that go on about Celtic playing the huns 30 times a year or whatever and it usually gets brushed off. But the reality is that's what people actually think and in their minds it's not a must see event if it's gonna happen about 5-6 times that year.
