The problem with that is Engels is diminishing returns, Hatate is in the same boat.
Would you buy either of them, given their track record ?

We should sell both but not at the same time as it's hard to see good enough consistency coming from either.

How many more * poor performances will we have to suffer from BRs golden boy. Surely Bernardo deserves a run ahead of him

Engels was brilliant playing in a double pivot with FC Augsburg.

His YT's had him making timely interceptions and pinging pinpoint slide rule passes to every corner of the field.

Have we simply been playing him in the wrong role ?.

What I'd give to have Matt O'Reilly in our midfield still..... we don't have a midfieldor with the same class as the lad we signed for 1.5 mil from M.K Dons..

But i do remember everyone writing off Nicholas Kuhn in the same way...and he went on have a * hot spell where he was probably our best player for a time...

Point being...not everyone hits top form when we want them to...and I think Engels will at some point

I think it really is that simple mate, we have him playing as a half space creator and he is not that under any stretch

Ive been very much on the "he has something and will come good eventually" side, but honestly I think Im giving up the ghost a bit now.

He just never seems to take his chance. And against mediocre opposition that he should be capable of making some sort of impact. He shies away from getting involved and he doesnt command the ball in a way that even Luke MacCowan does. Its starting to feel like pure wishful thinking now that suddenly he clicks into a top player

Of course we spent £11M on Engels over spending £11M on the wonder kid at Nurnberg during the same Summer instead

Still don't think he's an 8 so will give him benefit of the doubt.

Play him as a 6 in a double pivot and then will judge him.

Same goes for Nygren, not overly impressed but until he's played in his best position (number 10) it's not fair to judge him either.

Rodgers needs to stop trying to shoehorn players into his ideal shape or actually bring in guys who are natural number 8s

The only natural number 8 we have is the guy we play as a number 6.

Well, we didnt. The wonder kid at Nurnburg was very highly rated and had an offer from a very strong Bundesliga side who, if necessary, can pay a lot more than we do.

We struggle to compete with good teams in top 5 leagues.

"overspend" is when you do a bad deal and end up losing money. We will easily get 11m back for Engels if we would sell him.

The "Overspend" talk is exactly what the board want to hear.

Absolutely no chance we get anywhere near 11 million for him 6 or 7 if we are very lucky

Thought he done ok last weekend to be fair. I’d like him to be given a run of games in the team to see if he can kickstart his time here. There is a player in there.

I we let him rot on the bench while duds like Hatate play, no.

If we let him play which he should, i think we will or at least very close to.

He's never looked worth what we paid but as long as BR is here, nobody in our midfield is going to show anything. His system in there just doesn't work with the players we have in the majority of games. Always looks dysfunctional

    .
If it is that simple and him playing as a 6 in a double pivot elevates his game to what we all think he should be playing at then it's gross mismanagement from Rodgers & we should seriously question him being the man for the job.

I'm certain there were folk who said the same about Idah, that we'd at least make back what we paid, in the end, made a £3-4M loss on his transfer
