This is a regular issue we have, we have pre-determined subs and nothing that happens in game changes that. That is so backwards, even if the sports science is telling you he can only last X amount of minutes, the eye test should supersede that. He was the most dangerous attacker at the time he was whipped and should have stayed on whilst we were hunting for a goal.

I'd have kept him on as well, he is a good poacher type at our level in that he moved about the box well into positions and a big goal threat, even unable to run about much just having him in the middle waiting would be fine.

At the other end of the park, one of Schmeichel's former Leicester colleagues, Kelechi Iheanacho, has made an instant impact since joining Celtic as a free agent last month.

He scored in the Europa League last time out in Belgrade and has made as much of an impression on the pitch as he has off it. "Kelechi is a quality striker," said Schmeichel. "A very, very, very good striker who I'm very sure will have a lot of success.

"I think the fans, if they don't already, they'll definitely love him. He's a very bubbly character within the dressing room. He's incredibly loud. He's finding his feet with that now. The more settled he gets into life up here, he's going to be really, really good for us.

"I spent six, seven years with him at Leicester. He sat next to me on my right in the dressing room. They placed him there again. It was a case of looking at each other and thinking, not again. He's already stolen my speaker. He's taken over with his music and all that. He's finding his feet. Like I say, he's scoring important goals for us already. I'm sure he'll continue to do that.

"I don't know how you can't be anything but inspired playing here for this club. Coming in for his debut, ninety-sixth-minute penalty, and going and scoring a massively important goal in Belgrade, that's gold dust for a striker. That will give him loads of confidence. If he can get his first goal here at this stadium [Celtic Park], he's going to be on cloud nine."

Don't think he got any service tbh, it was the same when Kyogo was here, this system completely nullifies our strikers.

Not disagreeing BTW, he still wasn't great and was poor for the obvious pass to Tounekti, who was open.

Aye not the best. Feel like he was robbed of a goal though

The big issue for me is how one footed he is. He butchered two openings tonight by wanting to shift it to his left.

Feel like we can build around the Tounetki / Kelechi combo. If we had a right winger who gave a * and could control the ball we might be onto something.

I agree. Service wasn't there either and will mention that in the appropriate player threads for the midfielders in particular.

But in terms of the limited ball-time he did get. Wasn't impressed tonight. Also didn't see much running about when we were chasing the game.

Got done out an equaliser. Great finish.

There’s no way he should be a starting striker for us. We can let ‘the best of a bad bunch’ be the standard we are looking at.

He is what he is… he’s hardly kicked anything in years and it shows. He was a bargain bin grab, his team let him go for free ffs

Had to make that pass. Was woeful..

Robbed though of a good goal he made all by his self..

To me it's a minutes issue.

The goal he created was a bit of everything you want in a player. Strength, awareness, calm under pressure, licked off with a good finish.

If he gets back to full fitness and pairs that with making the right decisions in the moment then he should absolutely be our starting striker.

He should be the type of 3rd choice punt we take to see if it works and he can rekindle old form. To be our starting striker is absolutely laughable.

The worst VAR decision I’ve ever seen, not even exaggerating. They’ve made up something in their heads to chop his goal off. It’s not even a decision to be made, it’s a fabrication.

    This.
He only looks decent as he's compared with the utter pish we currently have.
The standards have fallen so much it's unbelievable.
Nowhere near good enough to be a starting #9 at Celtic.

As bad as we were attaching wise that truly was unreal and probably costs us at least a point. I have no idea how many replays I have watched but I still don't see the handball. I was absolutely astonished when it was called handball at the time as I thought ok it's just a routine check but nothing there.

What the * was that VAR decision? It didn't go anywhere near his arm.

I've not seen any footage about the handball?

    How bad was it?

Also, he is absolutely someone we could get a tune out of because I feel like he'd really take to the love he'd get here if he was scoring... but the idea of football Rodgers wants Celtic to play ain't gonna bring that out.
