I thought the meltdown of signing him was absolutely crazy. A striker that has been fantastic for City and Leicester in the Premier League is good enough for us. He played a estimated 9 minutes per game for Middlesborough.

Hope he wants to take on the extension.

Happy to hold my hands up and say I got it very wrong on my judgement of him. Alot of my comments on him were also born out of frustration with the dealings in the window and how he was signed. But he's been a breath of fresh air into the team. Clearly has worked very hard on his physical condition as he looks much sharper than he did at Middlesbrough. Hold up play, first touch and finishing all looking great and he seems to be getting better. Absolutely has to be first choice striker now and Daizen needs a spell on the bench.

Think we all felt cautiously optimistic on this one. We all knew he has shown big talent in the past but could we unlock that again.

Well, I don't think he is 70% fit yet and his contributions per game is telling. If we can get him anywhere near his best, it could be a fantastic signing.

Still find it crazy he is the only cf we have that is standard though (assuming both shin and Kenny are not)

A 1 year deal with an option of a second is literally the perfect situation. The option is a club option, not a player option. We can trigger it anytime.

This was a risk, one that seems to be paying off.

Will he stay if Rodgers isn't here?

I agree in general. The meltdown was overboard.

However, you've kinda misrepresented his time at Middlesbrough. He played quite a lot in his half seasons there. Started 9 of his 15 appearances and clearly didn't perform too well, which further fueled the ill-feeling in here. Not sure where you've got 9 mins per game from.

Not sure where i got it from lol. Might have been Sevilla he played 640 minutes for

Still a player with that record in the PL is clearly a very good player

He dwarfs players like Edouard for example

His hold up play is better than expected. We create more chances with an out and out striker in the team.

He also looks really motivated. Laziness is something I think he’s been criticised for in the past.

To the tune of 'That's Amore':

When he gets on the ball
and it ends up in goal
    Iheanacho

    When he's firing up top
he's our star in the box
    Iheanacho

He came in on a free
    now's he made himself key
    Iheanacho

When he scores for the Tic
all the huns will feel sick
    Iheanacho, Iheanacho

To me that’s why we create more chances though with him in the system, the system is designed to have a striker that can come deep and link play but we have had Kyogo, Idah and Maeda all try play that role and none of them are good at coming off the front and bringing others in to the game. All three were get in the box and get on the end of chances with movement type players.

Even during his first tenure Rodgers system was always better than with that sort of striker. Add in he likes wingers that want on the ball, when you look at what we put out against Kairat it’s no wonder we were so blunt in the final third.

Maybe should have done better with a couple of chances but I can't complain. He's finding spaces, getting into and creating chances. 3 games, 2 goals and 1 assist. I think he will get 20 this season easy.
