We dont know the level Jota will return to, that is fair but Daizen was through the middle predominantly from January onwards. He was an option on the wing but was mostly in a battle with Idah through the middle.

I agree we need depth, we would all love that but if Tounekti keeps playing like this and Jota returns and gets up to speed then both have to play. Depth or no depth.

With his style of play, it could easily be more. Dying breed in terms of style of winger.

Iheanacho down the middle. He was excellent today. Daizen will be away in January.

I’d like to see him on the right, even for a period within a game. His major upside is down to his willingness to take on his man at every given opportunity, I don’t see that being lost on the right hand side myself.

Big pitch at CP for 90 mins against a bottom half SPFL side , he will be frightening.

Made something happen every time he got it today .

Daizen will be gone before Jota returns from injury.

Plus he can go on his left and right side, he would defo do it on that side but wonder if Rodgers just making a point to the board that we are severely lacking a right winger.

It's something small but I love how he isn't afraid of tearing into Iheanacho. A few times he did it yesterday :56:

Me too. Said at half time yesterday that it was the perfect chance to give him 20 minutes on the right side to see what he can do.

Unlike Balikwisha, this lad has the pace to go on the outside. He’d still be a threat on the right.

    Embarassing post.

You think he might be better than Messi? Has Messi ever scored at Firhill? I think that answers your question

Need to see what he can do in Europe. Has done well against spl fodder but if he can step up then we know we have a player

Not seen such an impact on the wing since Jota.

    Boy is class.

Predominantly but we still started games with Jota or Kuhn on the bench.

Jota played in 13 games for us last season - 8 as a starter, 5 from the bench.
Kuhn played in those 13 games also - 10 as a starter, 3 from the bench.

You need to have that competition and depth in the squad. We need to have the kind of depth that at certain points in the season, Tounekti or Jota might have to find themselves on the bench for a period of time, not just to rest or rotate them but because their form may have dropped and we have a player to come in who is at the same level as them and who can keep them out by performing at a high level.

We know well that other than Daizen our wide players don't tend to play the 90 that often. Yang who was probably our 4th choice winger last season made 34 appearances. It's the one area of the pitch where we can keep 4 quality players happy with minutes and opportunities. We need to have 4 quality players there. Tounketi certainly looks like 1, jury is out on Balikwisha and Jota will likely see very little action this season and its debatable how he will come back after his injury. Maeda will be oof in January we probably all agree. We need two quality right wingers in during the next window - it has to be the priority for the club.

Best debut since Antman last week (no laughing ),and he looked class again yesterday.

In all seriousness if we can have him and Jota on either wing with AJ and KT supporting we will be a right handful in the Europa.

Problem is staying in it til Jota gets fit. If we can scrape through the group stage and pick up a bit of momentum I do fancy us to go far.
