Vividly remember when he was getting sold first time from Forrest. One of the coaching staff was getting interviewed about it on the radio and saying he couldn't understand why anyone would pay that money for Burke. Wasn't really putting him down, just saying he was totally unproven and very raw in terms of footballing talent.

SV Werder Bremen confirms what DeichStube already reported on Tuesday: Oliver Burke will leave the Green-Whites in the summer!

Bremen - Until a few days ago, Oliver Burke 's extension of his contract with SV Werder Bremen , which expires in the summer , was practically considered a formality - after all, both the club and the player himself had repeatedly signaled publicly that they would very much like to continue working together. Now, however, things are very different: According to information from DeichStube , the striker from Scotland has chosen a different path and is on the verge of a move to Werder's Bundesliga rivals Union Berlin . As we have learned, he already completed the obligatory medical check in the capital on Tuesday. The deal should be finalized soon.

After Oliver Burke was considered a no-go in Bremen before the start of the season, he has made remarkable progress over the course of the season, becoming a key player for the team and a fan favorite. The 28-year-old has been in the starting eleven for seven consecutive matches, and his goals have helped keep Werder Bremen's European dream alive with four games remaining. Should the move to international football actually succeed, however, Bremen will have to make it without Burke.

Negotiations over a new contract between Werder Bremen's management and the player's side had proven complicated in recent weeks. The sticking point was the differing financial expectations . The bosses of SV Werder Bremen presented the professional with a new contract in which his previous salary was apparently reduced by around 40 percent. Oliver Burke rejected the offer, as well as a second, improved offer, which he felt also failed to adequately value his sporting development.

Oliver Burke has meanwhile sounded out the market for alternatives - and has found one in the capital. At 1. FC Union Berlin, the striker is expected to compensate for the departure of striker Kevin Volland (returning to 1860 Munich) next season. What's interesting is that in just a few days Burke will be able to get a precise picture of his future workplace. On May 3 (3:30 p.m./DeichStube live ticker), he will be visiting Werder Bremen for Matchday 32 at the Alte Försterei. (dco)

He was always quick but had little control over the ball, we've seen Maeda improving his finishing this season so maybe Burke has discovered ball skills, I'll believe it when I see it mind. There must have been a reason W. Bremen offered Burke a contract that was 40% reduced from his previous one.
