Mental it was Iheanacho who set him up. Rugby Park Tounekti was slaughtering him for an overhit pass. Then twice today he was raging at him first half..

    Must be a Tunisian/Nigerian thing :giggle1:

Sebastian Tounekti produced a Man of the Match performance on his debut last weekend as he helped the Hoops beat Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

And the Tunisian internationalist followed that up with another superb display against Partick Thistle in the Premiers Sport Cup, which included his first goal for Celtic in the 4-0 victory.

Now the 23-year-old winger is looking forward to playing his part as the Hoops kick off their UEFA Europa League campaign this Wednesday with an away game in Belgrade against Crvena Zvezda.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, Sebastian Tounekti said: “It was really amazing to get a start and get the goals going is a really amazing feeling, so I’m just really pleased to get my first goal.

“I like to play with a lot of confidence and this style is fitting me really well – that’s one of the reasons I wanted to come to Celtic.

'The manager gives me a lot of freedom on the wing so I’m just really happy to be here and to help the team to win games.'

“It’s been really easy to settle in because I’ve got such good team-mates and such good staff around the team, so I’m been taking in so much from everyone, so it’s been a pleasure from the start.

“I’m really looking forward to the Europa League game – that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to come to Celtic was to play in big matches like this, so I’m really looking forward to starting the campaign.”

Him and Jota on the wings is what we all dream of.

If we signed another two or three players of his ability, we're laughing.

That's require us signing players though.

Sometimes you do have to give the scouting department credit, because he’s some talent and I definitely doubted how good he was.

    So was I.

I really liked the look of him in his YT'S. He is deceptively physically strong too, direct and has the pace to kill. Despite all the seeming disappointment of the transfer window, we may have found a few gems amongst the dross, in Tounekti, Sarrachi, Balikwisha and Ihaenacho, and we may be stronger now as a squad than we first feared.

Could it be Tisdale actually earned his spurs this transfer window ?

I don't think our scouting is the issue. We can identify players but our money men won't sanction us paying the market value for quality players that are identified. There's so many examples in recent times.

Another thing is when you look back at that thread is that there are a certain proportion of posters who were raging at the prospect of paying £5m for him. Sure we probably could have got him for £3-4m if we moved a few weeks earlier when they had a chance to find a replacement and before they sold off other key players but there were posters saying there he's not worth £5m and to walk away.

£5m is not a whole pile to us and £5m is not a whole pile in today's market. We have simply got to be have an attitude that not every transfer will work, not every player will be a great bit of business. YouTube videos can be deceiving but he just looked good in his ones, he was unpredictable, he wanted the ball, he always seemed to look to make things happen and that's exactly how he has started out here. I won't get too carried away here yet but if he continues on as he's started he will be as good a signing as we have made since Jota the first time around, IMO. With all due respect Wednesday night will be a big test for him and if he comes through that with a similar level of performance then great.

He reminds me so much of Jota, I think he's more direct, he's faster, he's stronger but Jota looks to have an edge technically and in end product but its the way they both want the ball and they want to make things happen. When we get Jota back and hopefully when Balikwisha settles we will have brilliant options on the left. We could do with a couple of quality right wingers though and that needs to be the priority in January. We need them in the door at the start of January as we will also likely be without Tounekti and Balikwisha with the ACON coming up.

The one place where you need serious depth is wings, you need guys to come in and impact off the bench, you need guys to step up and come in and perform when someone is out, you need that comeptition to drive players to reach their best. Everything about the way we play the game under Ange and Rodgers stems upon wide players that want the ball and can create.

I didn't really care about Dolberg on January, Tounekti was the guy I wanted as if you have wide player players who create chances we will score goals - whether its Johnny Kenny, Idah, Yamada, Maeda Iheanacho or Dolberg leading the line.

Tbh I've always said we seem to have decent scouts. We pick up a very good amount of talent. The weak link as usual is the fannies on the board. How many qaulity players do we miss out on due to pennies and the board shenanigan. Arseholes.

There is no way it is either or on the left wing. Simple fact is we have to accommodate Tounekti and Jota in the team. They are both match winners, exciting wingers. It will likely necessitate playing Jota on the right where he was excellent under Ange at times.

    Both simply have to play.

We don't have any idea what level Jota is coming back to. We had Jota, Maeda and Kuhn as wide options at various stages last season - that's the kind of depth we badly need, Kuhn and Jota both started games from the bench or got hooked in big games. If Jota and Tounekti are starting then they start on merit, we don't have to accomodate anyone. We need to have 4 first team quality wide players in our squad. If we want to kick on and progress - that is the necceessity and everyone needs to earn their spot.
