He’s back up to Tounekti but wonder if we will see him play centrally at some point, didn’t exactly look confident taking on any player 1v1 though.

Nygren looks good at picking up those 2nd balls and winning the ball back in the middle though, far more than McGregor & Hatate does. Again though we are back to square pegs in round holes, may as well play Shin or Kenny on the right who have pace.

Balikwisha is a really good defensive player as well though and presser, probably way ahead of any of the other midfielders.

Needs played on the left. Tounekti, to me, looks naturally riggt footed and comfortable going either way. Balikwisha does not.

No way we signed 2 left sided llayers with one out injured already (jota), and anticipated maeda leaving, who's lllayes left of centre.

But then again....our recruitment is that inept

Think we'll see Tounekti on the right on Sunday.

Rodgers said today he played Balikwisha on the right bcoz he's wanting to see who can play where so he now knows Balikwisha can't play on the right so suspect it will be Tounekti's go this week.

Think he'll do better than Balikwisha there

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
Signed 2 players better on the left.

have jota who when he comes back is best on the left.

have Maeda who is best on the left.

    honestly, wtaf.

    It’s mental bad.

5 left wingers - Jota, Balikwisha, Tounekti, Yang, Maeda - 6 if you add Osmand
    1 right winger - Forrest.

Rogers said only yesterday Balikwisha was signed to replace Maeda - who was 'gone'.

Meanwhile, no one was signed to replace Kuhn or Kyogo - or Idah!!

    We are a joke.

Then its clear meada is our kyogo replacement. Tbh he's actually quality in europe in that position due to the higher back lines and movement. Hopefully finds his finishing boots now he's scored.

We should try tounekti switching wings for a bit. See how is is cutting in. Thankfully jota is very good on the right aswel purely because he's just that good he can operate anywhere. Looks like that's out new right winger.

Agree that's how things will pan out, but it certainly wasn't the plan.

Also after such a promising debut, don't want to reduce the Tounekti impact by playing him out of position.

But we are where we are - Rogers will now have to move players around.

I always felt that Jota was utterly wasted on the right as he was nowhere near as effective there. Unfortunately we don't really have options so he might need to play there. My concern if he is thrown straight in there when back from injury he may take a long time to get back to himself as he is a confidence player and if he's not being as productive there it may affect him.
Whatever way you look at it the right wing situation is a *.

    Dunno why anyone is shocked.

Clear as day that both players are left wingers to trade. How many times did people on here say the same and question where the right winger links were?

I get we needed both. Jota can play both sides, injuries etc and meada was meant to leave.

Surely there must have been some right wingers we missed out on and not thought "forrest will do"

Aye, the amount of fans writing him off after an hour of 1st team action is very poor.

Taking out the frustration of the window on him, needs time.

I'm assuming Daizen will either sign a new deal or be off in January (latter most likely at about 70% of what we'd have got), which leaves us 3 players whose best position is LW. It's all very bizarre and we are now going to have to hope/shoehorn one in RW.

Forrest is on his last legs and Yang is also better on the left and half out the door, so we'll need 2 RW's in January.

    Insane levels of terrible planning.

Is this the plan for post-January window?

    Jota/Tounekti/Bali Iheanacho/Shin RW/Jota/Forrest

You are optimistic, thinking they have a plan.

He’s a really good defensive player and way ahead of our other midfielders? Based on what?
