Ralston for the next three months is a sickening prospect.

Don't worry, we'll have Yang at RW for the next 3 months to soothe the blow.

A huge loss. Thats Johnston now on top of Jota basically out until christmas. Two massive players for the team. You knew the way he reacted to his hamstring at the time that this was a bad one and sure enough its just that. I suppose the only consolation is that given the crazy schedule he has had between Celtic and Canada the guy has hardly had a break since he signed for us so he is getting one now!

We should at least get a loan in for the season. Ralston is fine for the SPFL but if he got injured, * help us.

At this stage the academy near enough is pointless.

We haven't produced a decent player from it in years into the first team and any player that looks remotely promising is snapped up for £300k and driven down to England.

And I'd be surprised if any of the current generation have what it takes based on what I've seen.

Did that end at the Fenerbache game?

You obviously weren’t the only one tbf, we played Tyler Blackett and Efe Ambrose at left back until KT could no longer be ignored

Aye probably around then. I just thought he looked really * technically. All be had was endeavour. Loved to hoof it.

He definitely had more about him than I realised (obviously).

Probably not wrong with that opinion to be fair. That was still his weakness when he was good enough to fetch £25m fee.

Seeing him so far this season, he still does the hoof, but he directs it for a run in behind and it’s more a choice now.

I liked him before that game, and it was more who we were playing ahead that frustrated me. Then the Fenerbache game that performance, I realised he could be something far, far more than I’d thought already. I liked him because he loved a tackle before that

Liking the look of Donovan so far and happy he is getting game time, but the sooner we have the real quality and experience of AJ back, the better!
Just hope we then can use AJ to help bring on Donovan as well.

Alistair Johnston has given a positive update on his recovery from a recent hamstring injury, sustained last month against FC Kairat.

Celtic’s first-choice right-back pulled up at home in the first half of his side’s Champions League play-off against the Kazakhstan side, with the 27-year-old defender having to be stretchered off in the first leg.

Following the game, the Canada international was ruled out for up to three months by his manager, Brendan Rodgers. However, on a recent podcast appearance, the defender hinted at his recovery going well, though he stopped short of putting a timeframe on his return to action for Celtic.

“When the injury originally happened, I feared the worst, but it’s a pretty significant injury still,” he said [Park the Bus Podcast]

I’m actually ahead of where I thought I was going to be, but still a long way to go. I’m not really going to put a time period on it just yet; I’m just kind of taking it day by day.

“The plan is that, honestly, I feel really good, and that’s almost the hardest part of the full thing, is that I feel like I’m ready to go out there and play, but I know there’s still a lot of boxes that need to get checked before I can get back to my full level.”

Johnston arrived at Celtic in 2022 from Montreal, following his participation in the World Cup for his national team in Qatar.

Since then, he has made 115 appearances, scoring seven goals and assisting a further 22 in all competitions. He has won three Scottish Premiership titles so far, as well as two Scottish Cups and two League Cups.

The right-back has made 56 appearances for Canada since making his debut in 2021.

That sounds really positive, the fact he feels like he could get up and go, but just needing to tick off the boxes with the medical staff to ensure he isn't rushed!

12weeks was a worry, would have taken us to tail end of November - by sounds of what he is saying, could be back with us in October

Was great to read that interview with Johnston saying he felt he was ahead of schedule and feeling pretty good about where he was at with his recovery. Not having him and Jota in the team at the moment is 2 absolutely massive losses for us.
