It's definitely a power struggle between Lawwell and Rodgers. Rodgers is the only manager we've had since O'Neill with the kind of profile and track record to demand things.

With regard to Desmond, again he will do these things for optics and his own ego rather than a love for Celtic. He likes to bring a big Irish name in at Celtic when the chance presents itself, we've seen that before with the two Keanes, MON, Rodgers etc. I think that is as far as his interventions go. When we are trying to woo someone in he might make a phonecall or use the private jet but again - that is the extent to it.

He hasn't put a penny into Celtic in 20 odd years, he rarely attends Glasgow, he doesn't bother attending board meetings himself. That's not a guy with a great deal of interest in the club and tbf there are many major shareholders or owners who will fully entrust the running of the club onto others which is fair enough, as long as they are doing a good job and any football person can see the austerity and downsizing that has gone on at Celtic in 20 years, so the problem with Desmond is more apathy than control I feel.

Getting rid of Lawwell alone won't fix this but by getting rid of him you are getting rid of the most regressive and despised figure at the club. There is a culture of nepotism and insularity at Celtic that is not good - we only appoint ex players to the coaching positions, we only promote from within for all the key senior management jobs - all this is due to Lawwell and other senior board members IMO - it's to create a culture of yes men, people are in jobs not on merit of capability but they are there because they are beholden to the guys above so nothing is ever challenged.

We need an outsider in as CEO. Somebody with a track record in football and know how a proper club will be structured. This should be followed up with a DOF and he should be resourced with all he needs to carry out his job to the highest standards. We need to expand our budget, we need to be willing to demand bigger fees for our key players, pay larger fees for new signings, spend more wages on our players, we need to start to be willing to tie down our best youth prospects on contracts at the market rate. We need to start recruiting coaches on merit not whether they used to play for Celtic. None of this would ever happen with Lawwell about, with him gone there might be a chance if we get the right person in as CEO. Nicholson can be moved down or sideways or who knows he may even grow a pair without Daddy Lawwell telling him what to do.

Its of course speculation, how do you know DD doesn't attend board meetings? Don't think there's any way to check that. The PLC will submit documents about board meetings to companies house, but I believe don't need to say who's present.

He may not be involved day to day but nothing happens at Celtic without his say so, including the election of CEO and Chairman.

The AGM will be very interesting this year as we may have people voting against DD voting block for the first time.. or he may push for the removal of PL or Nicholson himself.. doubtful tho.

Attendees at board meetings are recorded. This is published on our websites. Desmond attends these meetings via proxy which is effectively someone else representing him. He couldn't be bothered to go to Glasgow and attend them himself.

He could attend via video link, not saying you're wrong, but can you show me where this is recorded?

It's recorded as attending the meeting via proxy so presumably that's a representative there on his behalf.

Where is it recorded he attends via proxy?

    It says this online?

As a publicly listed company, Celtic Football Club provides extensive information about its directors and their responsibilities in its annual reports and investor updates. However, the specific individuals present at any given board meeting are not disclosed, as this is considered internal operational information.

Not ideal, but that could maybe work. The DoF could do most of the fan engagement and negotiate deals with help from Nicholson. That would leave Nicholson to be more of an administrator of the business side of things.

Probably deep down laughing inside at the banners and the 12 minute protest, was it not Wilson who spoke to supporters in a patronising way telling them "You lot think that You are the most entitled ones!"

He was in cahoots with Galloway during the referendum, as a former Labour MP it was evident that he would be in the vote naw camp, another dinosaur who has been on The Board for far too long and wouldn't know the meaning of the word "Modernisation"

Without a doubt Lawwell is front and center on the list of those who need to go.
