I really don’t understand this. Not spending on transfers or even infrastructure like stadium improvements and then letting it get taxed is an example of how badly and inefficient we are being run.

All this is probably just to inflate their bonuses at the end of the day.

I would love to see some consortium take over from the current board, a new group who are more open, more proactive and more ambitious.

Just to further emphasise the point above this article from Swiss Ramble shows how Club Brugge operate.

    https://swissramble.substack.com/p/club-brugge-finances-202324

They have amortisation of signing costs both of €29m so at least double us per annum, that is regardless of being Champions league (22/23) or Conference league (23/24). So they invest far more in players. Their wage bill is also £10m more in 23/24 and even higher in a CL season over £15m more.

Also note 22/23 was a record revenue for them at €99m.

From an operational perspective both years they make a loss a small one on Champions league and a near €30m one without.

Where they make this up is player trading with gains of €51m (22/23) and €73m (23/24).

They carry some debt around €35m and only had €5m cash at bank at the end of 23/24 which to now will likely have gone up to €15m category or slightly higher.

In summary they are set up to operate as a football club who have a player trading model, want to compete for the title each season and play Champions League each year. Where they have a league revenue advantage to us they rely on a capacity of half ours to generate match day revenue and have a lot lower revenue from that source as a result.

They make significant sums from player trading every year but reinvest those sums healthy back into the playing staff so they can again generate big sums year after year. Not shown in the accounts but they also promote from their youth team to supplement their signings.

They play in a more competitive league, there is actually nothing other than those running Celtic that stops us running their model.

Celtic fans are fuming with the board. Of that there is no doubt.

At Rugby Park this weekend, Celtic fans made their voices heard as the 12th-minute protest grabbed the attention of all the major media outlets.

The protest has caused much discussion amongst pundits like Celtic hero Chris Sutton and this has raised the profile of the action much to the embarrassment of the Parkhead board.

And now, it appears fan anger could intensify as journalist Michael Gannon shares ‘the whispers’ he’s hearing about Celtic’s upcoming financial results.

Celtic’s financial results in February posted pre-tax profits of £43.9m and £65.4m in the bank. And it seems those are about to be dwarfed in the next couple of weeks.

Gannon told Record Celtic [5m 35s], “Listen, usually they get great numbers. I remember being in Rotterdam for the Feyenoord game and they put them out the night before the game during the press conference so that nobody could be asked about it.

“And by the way, that was their best-ever figures. The whispers around is that this could be £100m in the bank.

“I mean, if they put out next week they’ve got £100m in the bank and then they lose in Belgrade or they trip up in the league, which is going to happen at some point, this is all going to blow up again.

I think the events on the park yesterday maybe cheered a few folk up temporarily, but I think the big elephant is still sitting grumpily in the back of the room.”

£100 million in the bank is ridiculous, wouldn't shock me if we're richer than a lot of the clubs down south.

    Ridiculous.

There was a recent repoprt that stated there was only one club down south with more cash in the bank than us. And that was including all EPL clubs.

We know, hence the anger. 100m they said to complete the bowl.. let's do it. However, I think the board like a waiting list. Leaves the power with them. People to scared to cancel as they wont get one back etc.. *.

No hotel. No stadium upgrades. Barrofield accounted for. The ridiculously handled scandal now being dealt with at last...

So where is this £100m gonna go? Could have been £150m if we'd signed about 3 attackers before Kairat.

Still makes absolutely no sense at all, £100 million doing * all. There has to be way more in this than just negligence. We should get done by that financial fair play mob for being rich but spending eff all, certainly not fair on the fans. Actually if that was a thing I’d * love it.

We've known about this ceiling for many decades and it's gotten worse since the MON era however that does not mean that challenging teams in Europe should be impossible. I think its fair to say that Celtic fans deserve to be given some feeling of hope and a reassurance that we are all moving towards something, even if that 'something' will only amount to disappointment in the end, at least we can show some pride in ourselves in that we believe we are improving towards being the best we can be.
Take that out of the equation, if the people who run the club show no ambition whatsoever, it affects player, staff and every supporter of the club leaving us feeling hopeless and eventually very angry at how our club is run. The idea that our club benefits the few at the expense of everyone is levels beyond insulting.

Does anyone know or can explain the Grandfather rights that David low refers to in the latest issue of ACSOM podcast? Are these season ticket holders the ones that are holding up any development of the south stand?

Galvanising steel costs a lot of money you know!:fear:

Even spend £5M covering the exposed steel round the ends of the stadium with a permanent fix like LED boards would massively change the look of the stadium.
