Well done on going along @Mr Shelby , actions speak louder than words. Hopefully between everyone, something can be achieved. The biggest issue is hurting the board but sticking behind the guys on the pitch that need us as much as they have for a while. Especially the young guys coming through like Murray and Donovan.

Merchandise sales and food/drink sales would be a great start, I agree on that. Takes money away and would be brought up by sponsors but allows people to enjoy the games still. Which a lot of people need after a hard week at work, as an escape from day to day life.

    Great stuff, @Mr Shelby
Going after Lawwell, McKay and Nicholson first sounds sensible to me as well.

Brilliant effort @Mr Shelby very well conveyed. Obviously a lot of work to be done going forward but it's a good start.

For anyone wondering about my own position on all this (I know a few like to have a poke at me on these matters as a 'board apologist'), I'm very much behind the movement. I've been more forgiving than most on the failures we've all witnessed, purely because I don't believe anyone at the club have a negative agenda at play and genuinely want the best for Celtic.

But I'm as angry at that particular window as anyone and a failure of that magnitude is just impossible to ignore and move on from. Am happy to get behind forced change in the hope that it's done right and doesn't harm our long term progress.

Looking forward to seeing how it all progresses, hopefully it gets fine tuned over time and we get a positive result from it.

    Excellent work, Shelby.

The only thing I would say and I think this is the most important point of all is that whoever the 12 members of the new committee are, they need to come from different backgrounds within the Celtic Support. There's no point having 2 from the GB, 2 from BHOYS, 2 from NCC, 2 from the Celtic Trust because that's just the ultras.

I think the committee needs to be made up of people with different extremes. So that it does unite the whole fanbase. We also need to know who these people are, what they represent and what they want to happen. It's no good having 12 committee members all wanting the same thing because that doesn't represent the vast amount of views we all have.

The main point is it's a start and we can iron out all the details as we progress this movement. Great work again, Shelby.

Well funnily enough I was eager to see what background they had but it was at the end and they were asked to stay behind. I'm sure it'll be announced.

I felt like rather than just accepting the first 12 to raise their hand, it would be better to take volunteers details.and then have a vote or something.

For example 2 guys in front of me volunteered but they seemed to know one another which tells me they're probably from Fan Media most likely.

A few people also said that in terms of people in the room voting for the boycott, it would be better to get an idea of how many of said people go to games or have a ticket for Sunday.. but that was kinda put down as its against the spirit of the entire thing.

    Great stuff Shelby.

Whoever suggested the corporate governance route and going after non-exec directors should be invited to the steering group. It sounds like they have an informed perspective which could be very useful.

Having worked in an org with non-exec board members, they can be a real problem. They tend to have their own agendas and don't understand (and often don't want to even try to understand) the critical details that make things achievable or not.

Coming at the board from both angles, governance and fan pressure, gives us more chance of success.

Thanks for going and the update. It sounds hopeful at least but I do worry about getting everyone pulling in the same direction. For example you noted that a late entry is planned for Sunday. Personally I fear a late entry is a bad idea, there are some serious safety concerns with trying to get large numbers of people into a ground in a short space of time. If someone gets hurt during any of them it would be used as a weapon by the board against the fans. It's the only option I was against in the survey.

Boycotting the EL would be the best short term way of getting their attention, IMO, due to the financial hit and the worldwide attention it would gain, but you say the supporters buses won't do that.

It's going to be tough getting things organised that will make a difference in which the majority of fans will take part. Hopefully some good ideas can be found.

    I think it's definitely.going to continue.

That was a comment made by several in the room which everyone agreed with. It can't just wash away after a few good results. I really don't see how it can tbh.

Even in recent times when we have been * off, it never ended up in such things happening as last night. That meeting in itself shows that this is different.

The next steps is kind of difficult to conclude. As I say in the shoet term there will be boycotts of some kind, not by all fans though it seems which concerns me as its kinda pointless if we can't all unite. Displays and public shows of anger as well when games are live on telly I would expect regularly. GB keen to hear ideas on this as well.

Once the steering group is formed I'm hoping another meeting is set where we can set actual, tangible targets over say, the next 6 months. For me, it's all well and good saying aye * Desmond let's go after him! But let's be real, is that gonna be possible? If I had 3bn behind me I'd have raised my hand last night and said I'll buy the * out..but I don't. None of us do.

Anything we do needs to be clear, concise and hopefully achievable. I'm also not saying we shouldn't aim for eventually removing him but I honestly think if you are to focus on that from the get go you'll waste a lot of valuable time and effort.

I have a feeling he maybe did raise his hand. It was a guy sitting next to Harry Brady from CU who mentioned it as well. Both of them seemed quite well versed on that side of things.

I agreed its a good idea but as you say it needs to be a multiple faceted attack on them. Everyday fans aren't going to have the money or the time to get involved with corporate law disputes.

    Im glad there's action now..

We're coming at it from a position of strength and hopefully we can affect change, before that financial strength stops translating to success on the pitch.

Loads have been calling for change for years, it's just that message gets diluted by 9IARs and Quadruple Trebles.

Hopefully the momentum of change is irreversible now, even if we continue to dominate domestically this season and beyond.

    Aye.

I think there will be different levels of where people are at and what sort of action they would be happy with. Some may be happy to keep the board in place and want to see a complete change in structure and some may want a complete overhaul of the boardroom and both sides need to be represented with a few in the middle, so that all ideas are bounced off each other. If you don't properly represent with both sides, you'll begin to lose people and lose them fast so we need to keep together for as long and as effectively as possible.

Yes, exactly. I wonder if something like a gofundme could be set up to raise cash to get a law firm to investigate any corporate governance breaches.

Think short term that steering group will be vital to unify everyone.

Longer term, after many of the actions taken, it may need enough press and attention for someone who is (or a couple) in a financial position to take note and make the offer to Desmond etc.

Perhaps in some of the meetings, at some point, that chat needs to be had to see who is a potential person to take the idea to. Sounds pie in sky stuff at this stage I know, but if we have a year of actual actions and media attention, approaching 2 or 3 wealthy Celtic fans/sport fans interested in investing, then that could be a story we take to someone like that who then sees the opportunity that Desmond etc may take the option to sell up.

Not like he, or the rest, are actively gonna ask folk to buy them out. But enough bad press and someone makes them an offer, it could away the thought to sell

    Definitely an idea.

Folk suggested also instead of paying money towards tickets or merchandise, perhaps put it into buying shares or raising money for other efforts. Which I thought was a good shout.

There's plenty of good ideas it's just how we make it organised. But it'll take time. You're talking about organising hundred of thousands potentially into millions of fans.

There's bound to be fans out there that have some cash behind them and aren't happy. A guy from Atlanta CSC in America was there last night and he mentioned that he was in business etc over in the US (Glaswegian guy) and he spoke well. Guys like that who are articulate, versed in business etc are the kind you want involved as well.
