Boycott the Europa League games

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by ILoveTheCeltic, Aug 26, 2025.

  1. Total silence and revenue coming to a grinding halt would be the only way they listen.

Thing is neither is really possible because there will always be a churn of people willing to spend just enough for the board not to really give a *.

If by some miracle the fanbase was actually able to agree and it meant for the season, they went dead silent, not a word, no statements, no engagement, just deathly silent, no showing games domestically and in Europe, not setting foot in stores, no further spending on merch, completely no showing the AGM. Then they could take note and begin to listen.

But it is just fanciful thinking from me.

Hospitality packages for Europa now on sale… quietly hidden on website with no announcement! Costs for 4 match package are:

    club 67-£320 *
    Club Celtic- £360 *
    Executive club- £440 *

Nothing I can see for standard tickets- shows once again where priority is for the club

If a boycott was universal and significantly more than half the fans followed, it can work.
Reality tells us it simply won't happen on such a massive scale with a huge waiting list for tickets.
Boycotts can only be effective on that basis OR in combination with other actions.

I totally get and agree with the argument around why the * would I pay £170 extra for European tickets and prop up the existing regime?
That's a personal choice and I agree with it.
But that in of itself will not force regime change.

We need (and are starting to get - Letter/VoNC) coordinated action with protests that impact the board not the team.
Fingers crossed the momentum keeps moving forward across all Celtic fans - the board are as vulnerable as they have ever been.

    Time for change.

I’ve never seen as many of our fans in agreement about the need for change though. I think there will be a big boycott amongst season ticket holders for sure, and I don’t see that void being anywhere close to taken up in the general sale.

Celtic TV should be the first thing people should cancel. That has an instant effect.

"The number of subscribers for Celtic TV is not publicly disclosed, but the official Celtic FC website and fan forums suggest it is a significant and growing number, especially with the club's international fanbase. The subscription costs start at £14.99, and it's a service managed by Celtic F.C. Limited itself. "

Have heard anything more about a coordinated boycott, or is it just a few CSCs and individuals at the moment?

It seems like the GB won’t be taking up tickets based on the survey I seen. It’s far more than just a few CSC’s as well it appears. There was a helluva lot of CSC’s on the open letter. Now with the Association and Affiliation placing a no confidence vote on the board, I’d imagine the majority of the members involved would also view this as the next step. That statement the board put out has really been the final straw I think.

Imagine they came out and said the EL is free to season book holders who were on the hcts on or after 9/9/25 you would almost respect that level of pettiness

I think it will be discussed at the consultation tomorrow.

For me, as we move forward, the voice needs to come from a single source. E.g. setting up a proper movement rather than a bunch of individual organisations. As great as it is to see, it isn't going to be clear and concise enough and the board will be hoping for divisiveness to creep in amongst the support.

How ironic that probably the only way to show these * up for what they are is by not committing fully to our support for a European charge, after spending last weeks/months/years of slaughtering them for doing the same

99% of us aren’t sitting with at least 10s of millions in the bank however.

Aye, I've said it a few times..

We need to set up a committee/group made up of the CSCs, Season Ticket Holders, Celtic Trust, Ultras and Fan Media.. a modern Celtic Fans for Change.. probably easier said than done.

But, to make a difference and be effective thats what's required. An agreed plan of action, our strength is unity.

If their tickets available me not being a season ticket holder I am buying them

They are playing on the whole uefa fsr for not touching the money in the bank some of it they are telling the truth some of it they aren’t for instance it is true need to be seen spending cap on wages and transfers at 70 per cent of turnover per season so for instance I’m guessing that affects us directly on wages but I do t think that’s entirely the case with transfer fees as a good chunk of what’s in the bank has come from received fees recently

If that was the case that whole of fees are 70 per cent of turnover then that’s uefa directly saying out of what brought in you have got to directly spend right away as you can’t use it the following season
