I wish you were not right but at this point I cannot see anything else. Just being able to win the title at this point would be success for this season so badly have Desmond and his board sabotaged the team.

Two other Moroccan free agents worth a look would be

Selim Amallah, a 28 year old centre midfielder, who was a regular
For Morocco during their run to the World Cup Semi final and has a lot of experience of top flight football in Belgium and Spain. Done ok last season for a poor Real Valladolid side.

Also a more defensive player Youssef Ait Bennaser who played with the third best team in Turkey last year and was an ever present with solid passing numbers both long and short and good defensive contributions. He is 29 and would be a good fit for a defensive midfielder in our team as he seems capable of the defensive work but also progressing the ball. Out the two despite having the poorer career to date I think he could be useful in complimenting our other midfield options.

Likely gonna lose Maeda next window and wouldn't surprise me Rodgers goes at the end of the season. Whole squad and staff needs a overhaul and that includes some of the wasters on the board

Feel like he should be about 43 but he’s 33.

I hope we're looking into Taisei Miyashiro on a free in January.
We won't be viewed as an ideal destination after the treatment of Shin, Inamura and Maeda in the recent window, however, if we put the groundwork in it's still possible. He'd be a great signing.

Would like this one purely as a McCowan type signing but killian Phillips I think will go on to get a bigger move soon. Now starting to get into Ireland squads and only 23. Every time I’ve watched him for st Mirren his desire/energy and battle in the centre of the park is something we just don’t have.

not saying he’d be an amazing signing. But similar to McCowan would be able to do a good job domestically when we need energy in a game.

We are due a HUGE turnover next summer. This January for me would be about picking up domestic players to guarantee us through to the title and cups. Who then next summer won’t be pushing for a move to the English prem or unsettled by being here.

I.e I’d imagine McCowan feels blessed to be at the club. Another foreign player would be pushing for a move over the lack of minutes.

then go into the summer and allow the new manager to spend big with the safety of a good solid Scottish/domestic base

See Rivaldo Coetzee is a free agent.

At this rate I'd say hes a cert to be signed but the board

I really wish we would stay away from the Far East market, far too many hit and miss cases there.

And then there is not so little problem, of a lot of them being far too polite and weak, when faced with SPL cloggers

Obviously got an injury keeping him out til January, but can’t believe a team aren’t willing to take him on

To be honest mate, while I don’t doubt that he has suitors that are probably just holding off to save a few months worth of wages, I can see why a lot of clubs would be wary.

Even if you’re extremely hopeful that this recent surgery & rehab might somehow sort out his recurring knee issues (and I’d think you’d need to have Mr. Happy levels of optimism to fully buy that) he’s had problems with his calf/calves as well that have taken him out for decent, albeit shorter, spells. From the 20/21 season onward (which is where his injury woes seem to begin) even in his ‘better’ seasons he’s basically missed a couple of months minimum with the same recurring injuries, and he’s obviously had more significant layoffs in the mix as well.

He’s in an awkward-ish position where the ‘bigger’ and/or wealthier teams can probably afford players of comparable quality that are just more reliable fitness wise, and some of the ‘smaller’/less wealthy teams that might see a chance to a nab a quality player at a bargain (assuming he’s willing to take a pay cut; which you’d think is probably something that he’ll realistically need to do at this point) are probably hesitant to fork out for a guy that could be after starting XI tier wages, in relative terms, all the while there’s a realistic prospect that’s he’s out for large chunks of your season. Honestly, while I think it’s very much a rarity, and I can’t even think of the last time I’ve heard of a club/player doing it, in his current state, and his more immediate future, he’s the sort of guy where a pay-as-you-play deal would be the most sensible option (for the clubs, anyway) or even just a short-term contract in general.

I hope it works it out for him, but I can’t imagine that there’s too many guys that have had his luck with injuries (especially those that probably have access to elite levels of medical care and the benefits/advantages that brings, yet still can’t get over them) that still end up with a long and active playing career. It’s a negative outlook, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a decent sized club picks him up in January, he inevitably gets injured again and then he starts drifting from club to club, never being able to get a proper run going, before ending back up in Japan with an early retirement soon to follow.

With all that said, I’d still maybe, sort of, be semi-for it if the circumstances were right :giggle1:

To be fair I didn’t know the history of the prior injuries you’d just said! Makes way more sense now. Also I’m thinking more from a selfish “it’s not my money it’s there’s” where paying £30k a week for a player who never plays isn’t my problem :giggle1: think you’re right regarding his career. Be a real shame cos he’d be class at a club our level. Us, Copenhagen, any of the Dutch clubs, Brugge, etc. can see taking the risk eventually on him

I would bite yer hand off to have had Vardy now. I think he'd have been ideal. He's a mad idiot, but big character. Think we could be doing with that.
