Didn't we score more goals under Rodgers last season than any other time?

Pretty much what I said 2 posts ago.He didn't play him, played Turnbull ahead of him and spoke of him having to adjust to his way of playing.

Arguably he's made him a better player as his possession stats must be far better now than 2 years ago but is much safer on the ball which is a common trend for Rodgers teams in general. Keeping possession is the priority even if it leads to the boring horseshoe of death that we are seeing more and more of over last 8 months or so

But you're talking about him stifling his creativity. That's not true, given as I just explained, Hatate had his best numbers for us last season. Better than his Full Season under Ange. So, it's just not true that he stifles his creativity.

His first season under Rodgers, it was quite clear that his head was turned during the transfer window. He played when fit after that happened.

After the Aberdeen game the other week

We’re trying to get players in, never mind getting them out! We haven’t heard anything for the likes of Reo and that. He is one of the few players in that midfield who can make those incisive passes. He’ll give the ball away at times, and that used to really frustrate me when I first started to work with him, but that is the risk he plays in his game.

“But then he produced a moment like that, which was a brilliant finish. He’s done that up here before, last year. We want to build the squad, and while there are lots of areas I’m pleased with, there are other areas we will focus on and hopefully improve.”

So you don't think Rodgers is obsessed with possession?
You don't think players are being told that keeping possession is the priority and not to play the riskier passes if it limits changes of keeping possession?
Do you think the players just stopped seeing those fantastic runs Kyogo made?

No, I don't think the players are told that keeping possession is the priority. I think players are coached to play a possession based style of play to win football games, in the same way Ange had a possession based style of play to win football games, albeit there are slight differences on how we control games.

Kyogo wanted to move. His performance levels dropped when it was clear he was trying to get out of the club. It doesn't really matter about specific players, either. The reality is we scored a record amount of goals in a season which came from other areas of the pitch. Additionally, Maeda went through the middle and we found his runs plenty of times from January onwards. So much so that we were all shouting for him to be the first choice striker moving forward. When it comes to Kyogo, was the problem the style of play or a player, who just didn't want to be here not applying himself to the same standards that he did before?

Did Rodgers style of play completely suit Kyogo? Probably not. That being said, all Rodgers asked Kyogo to do was be more involved in the build up of the game and the fact he struggled with that shows more about the player than it does the style of play. We scored 2 goals less in the league last season than Ange did in his second season, which most fans generally talk about as the fast, free-flowing football. We conceded less in the league. We performed far better in Europe. We also scored far more goals than we did in Europe under Ange.

You started this off by saying that Rodgers stifled Hatates creativity. That was just wrong, given he scored and assisted more last season than he did under Ange. So, Rodgers has made him more creative.

No I started it off by saying he didn't play Hatate when he 1st came back. He didn't.

Going in circles here and to be honest nothing your gonna say is going to change my opinion of Rodgers style of play, it's successful and aye we scored a lot of goals last year but i generally find his style of play pretty boring this match. Maybe just get this thread back onto Breum.

Go Ahead Eagles sporting director Marc van Hintum admits Jakob Breum was gutted by Celtic's failure to agree a deal to take him to Parkhead.

Brendan Rodgers' side ramped up their interest in the Danish wide man in the final weeks of the summer transfer window but saw multiple bids thrown out by the Eredivisie club.

Celtic were reportedly unwilling to meet Go Ahead's £5million asking price for the playerbut did ultimately get a new winger in before the deadline after signing Hammarby star Sebastian Tounekti for £5.5million.

However, fans in Glasgow's east end have been left fuming after another underwhelming window on the recruitment front, with Denmark U21 international Breum one of several targets they were unable to secure.

And while the 21-year-old was left disappointed by the collapse, chief van Hintum has praised his attitude in getting back to business with his current club.

Asked about how close they were to agreeing a deal with Celtic, he replied: "No, that transfer wasn't close. The gap between what we were asking for and what Celtic was willing to pay was simply too big. Jakob was open to it, but there was no agreement with Celtic. And of course, we ultimately had a say in that

The amount we asked for was very realistic and in line with the market, especially considering how things went with Oliver Antman. Of course, Jakob was disappointed, but he handled it fantastically. I expect him to shine again this season."

Go Ahead did however sell fellow wide man Oliver Antman to the Hoops' city rivals Rangers but van Hintum is confident that other players will be able to step up following his departure

Speaking to Oost Sport, he added: "With (Enric) Llansana and Antman, we've obviously lost two excellent players. But Go Ahead Eagles has often shown in recent years that others have always stepped up when people thought the squad was weakened.

"We're hoping for the same now. There's still a lot of quality around in Deventer, and everyone at the club is confident in that."

Us paying more to Hammarby, and not wanting to for Breum suggests we didn’t think the price they wanted was worth it.

That raises it’s own set of questions that. We knew the price for a long time, and went back in, showing intent to pay it before the 2nd leg. Hoping we’d get through with a win. So what the * are we doing, this ones been that publicly done, it’s a * depressing insight into how we operate
