    Exactly how I'd put it.

There's been plenty chat about him being unsuited to the 6 role, especially in Europe. I disagree, he's put in some good performances there but been hampered by the tactics of the day.

Even getting a 'proper' or 'destroyer' type 6 folk always talk about, I think they'd still struggle, so the criticism has often (not always) been harsh.

But something looks different this year, which to be honest I half expected. May even have mentioned it on here at one point. Definitely the start of the phasing out stage this season, although there's next to no chance Rodgers has the balls to do it.

    Barely good enough for Spfl.

Seen the same with Brown, get found out in Europe roughly a year before it's starts to show domestically.

This should be his last year as a regular starter. Hopefully new manager that comes in doesn't have any loyalties towards him and has the balls to make the big decision

He's always been a decent midfielder but never a captain on the park, club captain probably and now he's getting on his starts in the team should lessen

Not just Europe, I can’t remember his last good game against Rangers. It doesn’t help that we don’t change tactics against them
They sacrifice a player just to sit on McGregor to stop him dictating, it works
He needs someone more physical to do the breaking up

    I hate to say it.
We'll win nothing this year with McGregor at No.6 and Schemeichel continuing in goal.
I've came to that firm conclusion, based on what I saw last year, and this year.
I don't think Rodgers has the balls to drop both McGregor and Schemeichel, and that is a major, major problem for us going forward

He's definitely losing energy but more importantly confidence.
Pressure is also a factor, look at cup final tears as well as the haunted look in pressers after some games.
The burden of captain weighing very heavily.

We've badly overplayed him in last several years, I think he's played as many games as any midfielder in world football.
That's how over dependent we've become on a player also playing out of position for 5 years.

The club gave been so lazy with Calmac, he's been a victim of his own success and superb commitment to the cause.
We weren't even linked to a #6 in the window, which underlines that laziness and over reliance.
He needs to be treated like any player and not considered undroppable.

Overall, he is a struggling and needs to be rotated with a much more dynamic #6 coming in, also freeing him to play at #8 or #10 as needed.

It isn't really surprising given how much football he's played largely without a prolonged break.

    It's actually natural tbh.

Yes, he is. More than good enough.

Can he do that with how we’re set up and the role expected of him right now? Not a chance. We need a drastic change to the approach, how we pass, and where we move, and the other midfielders supporting each other more closer together.

Right now we play one way, a triangle between CB’s and Calmac, and another between Calmac and the other two midfielders. With the other teams midfield inbetween McGregor and the others. And usually a spare guy to stick on McGregor.

It’s worked because we had inverted fullbacks. And that would make another triangle to play through, McGregor to bounce off and get turned.

He’s ridiculously isolated. Easy to mark, and we’re incapable of anything if it doesn’t go through him.

Kairat away and the Huns it was ridiculous man. I’m not sure if it’s down to that, but the fullbacks had to stay back for an outball, but I’m unsure if that’s because of them needing to or Rodgers not liking to commit to an overlap too much. Because that’s also a habit he has.

Change it to something more fluid, allow McGregor to break the lines with another midfielder covering when he does, get them closer together. Get the fullbacks bombing up. It’s * ridiculous to me how much we’re missing Greg Taylor, when his replacement is * Tierney.

His drop off has been very noticable however he is being run into the ground given we have no rotation option. Feels very similar to Browns last season.

As regards leading us in Europe, being real a fully fit CCV and a fully fit Tierney are at a decent european level. Rest arent there. So McGregor is really one problem of many.

We will hang on to McGregor until he is beyond done, like Broony.

BR won't replace him this year, and a new manager won't replace him next year.

Hopefully it doesn't end up costing us, because it was painfully obvious that last year with Brown that he was done
