Exactly. Again, it’s just another thing where people are missing the main issue and then pointing the finger at Rodgers for not playing them. Nobody on here actually knows how good or bad these players are by the way, because we’ve seen very little. Rodgers and the coaching staff see them every training session. Obviously the guys on here will know better however. Everyone talks about Rodgers ego. Well surely winning is the biggest thing to massage that ego? So that would mean putting the best players available on the park. If these guys aren’t playing, it will be for a reason and I highly doubt it’s just because “Rodgers didn’t sign them” so is making a statement.

It is something to consider though.

When you step back and think, where else do you hear a manager having to justify multiple signings per window that he has had very little input into? It's another thing we've been brainwashed into thinking is normal patter. It isn't.

I think Yamada should have been in over Yang and I find it strange he threw him on at Ibrox yet doesn't include him here. But the fact we are debating whether two players of that level should be in our European squad immediately brings me back to the bigger picture of how much of a mess we are in so I'm really struggling to feel passionately about it.

I think "club signings" are getting much more usual especially with clubs using a Director of football which is getting more common. Im in favor of having a DOF, but one that knows how recruitment works. Not a former failed manager of Exeter who are a golf partner with DD.

This has been my point in the Tisdale thread where i got some amount of * lol. He is our Head of football operations and i think this is what we are witnessing right now. And Rodgers aint having it.Which you could sometimes understand but if my boss change stuff i dont like, either i leave or get along with it.

Just like the board need to go, so do Rodgers if he plans on chilling his last year. Might as well replace him now tbh.

I think that’s what makes our club signings all the mora ridiculous though. Because we don’t have a DOF so who the * is identifying and deciding to sign them.

People go against me on this on here but i am 110% sure after watching 2-3 hours of Tisdale interviews, that he holds that role here. Which is pathetic.

As above, we don't have a DoF. Tisdale isn't ours.

The other thing is, with a DoF he will still have dialogue with the head coach/manager about the type of targets he needs. Rodgers had absolutely no input to these signing, it's clear. So why bring them in?

Im not defending the * and never will, but i think Inamura have looked very good. I think Yamada is as close to Kyogo as you get and he would score for fun under Ange. Pusey i dont really get tbf.

I would not trust BR with money which his track record of signings clearly show. I think he knows this himself that he is useless bringing players in.

But with all that said, we should be hiring top class experts in that area, not former managers and pals of DD (in charge of recruitments)

Rodgers wont ever be happy in the long run at Any club he will be at now, or in the future because no club in world football will accept his signings.

Edit: Important note. Will we suddenly show ambition when he is gone and splash the cash? No.

I'm sorry mate I dunno how you can come to those conclusions based on what we have seen so far. Certainly the Yamada one.

Won't get into the Rodgers and transfer market argument as I think its been done to death but his record here has again been heavily influenced by the failures of those above him at times. Certainly in his last spell and the first season back here where he was pretty much given an entire list of players he didn't want. This is what I'm talking about.

It doesn't really matter if some fans think Yamada or Inamura looks decent. I have a bit of an issue with a club just signing a player without the manager sign off as ultimately he's the one needing to train and work with him..not dermot Desmond, Nicholson, Lawwell or whoever is OK'ing this. Its wrong.

You could be right ofc. Not saying i am correct. Im just judging it on i think the general feeling on here after the pre-season was that Inamura was ONE of the standouts in the pre-season. Its very, very obvious that he refuse to play him because he is a club signing. He have even made comments about it.

Yamada imo looks a great talent. If you look at the rest of the strikers he looks by far, far, the most promising. Could he end up *? Ofc. But the two chances he have had in a few minutes of game time have both ended up in goal (offside) and he take similar runs to Kyogo.

We could be losing a absolute gem of a player due to childish chess-play between BR and our idiot board. Both of them are egomaniacs.

If Johnny Kenny was a board signing for this season and Yamada not, it would be Kenny left out.

In principle you are right, but Rogers is not the manager, he's the 'coach' - the board regularly reminds him of this when regularly bypassing him.
'I coach what I'm given' was Rogers own words when he joined.

Now all of the above is plain wrong, in amongst the bigger * show that is our club right now.
Brendan should be involved and have a major say in all signings - but he quite clearly doesn't in many cases.

My point is, every employee/player should be treated equally and fairly.
Rogers also has a duty to put the best team on the park too.
But it appears that Rogers is deliberately holding back 'club signings' whilst favouring less capable others - perhaps due to ego, making a point or just plain old human bias.

For example Stephen Welsh consistently playing in front of Nawrocki in BR first year back as well as his frankly poor attitude and comments on Inamura when we can all see a potentially decent player.
Shin another strange one, he's first off the bench last 2 games then Kenny is in front of him.

I like Rogers overall, but I just don't like his attitude and lack of fairness/bias toward certain players.

You're wrong. Brendan Rodgers is the manager, confirmed by Celtic themselves when they appointed him.

"Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce that Brendan Rodgers has been appointed the club’s new Football Manager on a three-year contract."

I'm now thinking that Lennon reaching the last 16 that fairy tale-like year was a blessing and a curse for our European progress.

It set a dangerous precedent to the board that they can completely control not only who the manager will be, the lower wages they will be on, the budget for first team players they must operate within, the network of contacts they get players from (see Dudu Dahan), and the style/brand of football that suits those players best for both domestic and European success.

They proved that they can completely control all facets of the club off and on the pitch for the relative success levels that fans are willing to accept, and I think what we've been witnessing is their desire to keep things exactly this way, and managers that are unwilling to operate under these stifling conditions.

Tisdale is 'Head of Football Operations'.

    That's a DoF with a different name.

I don’t think they are the same role, a Director of Football would be a level above that and would take their vision to the Board and be granted a budget to deliver it. This would include manager/ head coach, backroom team, recruitment, analysis, youth set up and squad management.

When it comes to decision making power, I think Tisdale’s, Head of Football Operations will be very limited, he will come up with suggestions for change but will not have the power to act on these without Board sign off nor have a budget to spend.

The role Tisdale is doing could report to a Director of Football. For me Celtic could be doing with a Finance Director and CEO on a reduced salary and use the savings to pay a Director of Footballs salary because we are not getting value for money from the failing executive team there just now.

Good points, but he does a lot of the work expected of a DoF.

This is his remit according to the club announcement:

"Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Tisdale as Celtic’s Head of Football Operations.

In this new strategic role reporting to the Board, Paul will oversee the development and management of effective operations to support high-level football performance, including the identification and development of talent, in line with the club’s objective to develop Champions League players through our Academy and recruitment processes.

Additionally, Paul will work with the club’s analytics functions, supporting colleagues across the club to continuously improve our processes."

There has been so many bullshit contradictory statements from the board, main shareholder and manager throughout the years i think you can surmise theres no hard or fast rule on role and responsiblities behind the scenes.

Seems to be a bit of a mess with evrryone getting in everyone elses way

I see Tisdale as nothing more than a glorified scout there is no chance the reigns would be handed over to conclude transfers or have any say in fees involved. The same as those who have gone before him. The board as it stands would not fancy a DoF.

The chat when Howe was rumoured was the hold up being he wanted to pick his own DoF. We then got Ange and briefly had rumours of Fergal Harkin as DoF that never happened and a DoF was never mentioned again.

I do agree there is an overlap and that’s why I think a Paul Tisdale should report to a DoF not the Board and the DoF should have the authority to say to Someone in a Head of Football Operations, go implement that or that doesn’t fit with what we want or have budget for.

A Board is really just there for rubber stamping and a level of assurance they shouldn’t be getting involved in operational issues. They are paid what they are for very little time input, that’s not unique to Celtic so they can’t be expected to be in the level of detail we seem to involve them in.

The CEO should be the club figurehead ours is invisible and generally stealing a wage as far as we can see. Our finance director is involved in transfer negotiations, again a budget should be set and that should be based on how much the club can afford and move out the way.

When you even look at the club website there is nothing about direction of club, ambition what we are about. There is stuff being sold to you and there is masses of out of date information. Just everything about the club and how it operates is *.
