I don't think Iwata was personally. We definitely need someone else for that position but not sure I'd say he was it.

Even if mcgregor wants to play every game, do we just not tell him he's dropped for a couple to rest? He isn't bigger than the club. He can't be allowed to dictate whether he plays or not.

Anyway. Kinda straying off topic here.

This is the kind of pointless signing that has supporters asking serious questions about our recruitment. :43:

I’d have thought with him being an EPL player he would have been a Rodgers favourite. Strange :87:

Said right from the start it was a strange one. Can't make any sense of it at all. Surely he'd have been better off in Man Citys' B team that just rotting away at Celtic.

Can't believe Man City would let him come with at least some indication of how much game time he would get.

Maybe they just looked back at Deynayer and Boyatta and thought it would be fine.

Nobody is getting anything from this. Man City are saving a few quid in wages, but I don't think that's a priority for them

Been bombed out cos he refused to play with the B team. Typical Rodgers bitchiness.

If he has been asked to play with the B team to get match sharp, he should be * doing so. Simple. I’d send him back to City if that’s his attitude.

Yeah if that is the case, which im not sure of, i would agree just sending him back packing.

Still strange. His feet are supposed to be very very good and we are not creating * out the back.

It's difficult, he's played in PL2, is a City player, he's not going to be happy. But he also needs to be fit. I'm just assuming we've kept him as Welsh was going out on loan, which would make sense. I don't really see who's place in the Euro squad he would take anyway. You've got 3 CBs with Champions league and international experience, and another promising player from our academy.

Considering injuries we've had to centre backs over the past couple of years he's probably worth having until January.

    Most likely this.
We look to be on the limit for the Scottish quota so Murray makes that up (and is hopefully being used often this season regardless). JSP is, unfortunately for him, one that could be cut from that squad without any major issues.

Unless he had already started games and was clearly above Scales and Trusty, then he likely wasn't ever gonna shift them without playing yet.

The only players you could could have shifted for him really is Bernardo or Johnstone, but Johnstone will likely be able to play in 4 games so probably not worth it. Also KT or AJ have played CB before, so they can cover 5th or 6th choice CBs if required.

Only other person he could have taken out would have been Trusty. Then headlines are made because a £6m CB who played well in Europe last season is left out and one of his signings. Couldn't win.

Out of all defenders it was going to be him. He's nit our player.

What it does highlight is the shocking recruitment strategy. Calling it a strategy is probably being kind.

Plus how easily can players be swapped out during the competition?

Honestly don’t get all the news about this.

Young centre half on loan never really been tested is left out the Europa league squad for players who are not on loan and played in Europe before!

    * me shock horror.

I think a large element is why bother signing him unless there was room for him.

That's his level. He's played six games of senior-level football. He should be in the B-team, getting cup games and minutes off the bench. If he or City wanted 90 minutes every week, they should have sent him to a League One club. That's the reality of it, Rodgers is doing nothing wrong by not playing him.

Has to be the thought that trusty was off. Look how out of nowhere the Yang story came from. Trusty was one we all thought could potentially leave and did look likely. Until his injury id imagine the plan was for trusty to get his move and JSP be a replacement after that.

how it’s played out obviously isn’t the case but what do we lose as a club? Nothing. To me having a player on loan of his supposed quality whether he plays or not is better than us signing someone for £3-6mil and them never to be seen again (lagerbielke, nawrocki, etc.)

He’s not a Rodgers signing and that should be directed to the recruitment team.
