Tens of millions in the bank. Massive player sales, sell on fee profits, champions league carrot (now gone), nucleus of a good team requiring just a few quality additions. How are we going into transfer deadline day in such a mess!? Its actually sickening to think about the sheer level of incompetence of the people heading the club.
As it stands im scunnered with the whole thing. Hoping for something today to reinspire us for the coming season.

Love Lenny, but he was talking a lot of nonsense yesterday about attracting players to Scotland and needing CL football. For one the balikwisha signing blows that up. Apparently he didnt need CL football to come so why wait as long as we did? But in general, with exceptions for sure, the idea that players in the 5-10M price range are being dazzled away to the big European leagues is nonsense. Top tier players yes, but we aren't in that market.
The players we are looking at have us as options and other tier 2 European leagues and/or squad player roles at bigger clubs. Pay the right wages and they will walk to Celtic Park simple.

 

If Lenny is right, we can still sign top talent from East Asia. Kota Takai was easily attainable, for example.

 

Why do the board still have people defending them. I still see fans on social media defending them. Ahh well we’re 6 points clear and can have a good run in the Europa, 0-0 draw at Ibrox is a great result

It is a factor, Champions League is a major attraction for players, and when they have options then they’ll pick and choose as they wish. But it is only just a factor. And far from impossible.

I would agree to an extent. There could definitely been a few targets who would have only come to Scotland with a guarantee of CL. For example Stengs.

But then you look at the majority of the other names like Dolberg, Tounekti, Strelec, Munteanu, Breum. For most of these guys coming here would be an upgrade. So I doubt they’d mandate CL football as a requirement.

I’d also doubt they’d see our draw with Kairat and say oh aye thats a * tricky tie. Lets wait to see if you get through first

 

I agree. It was a problem Lenny had a lot, but a large part of that was down to Lenny and the board allowing us to be strung along, as an acceptable option if nothing else they fancy comes up

I thought it was poor from Lennon yesterday trying to mount a defence for this window. He should be adding his weight to the criticism.

We sold our starting RW at the start of the window. Had another out with a long injury. Made no real effort to strengthen in advance of the qualifier. The build up to it was peppered with embarrassing low ball offer to targets that would otherwise have been available had we been prepared to pay a modest fee.

We clearly were not out there working overtime trying to get proven quality in offering decent fees and getting knocked back by agents. There was no effort made by the club to strengthen the team.

 

He'll probably score the winner against us first game..

 

Imagine the investment needed next summer. Losing Forrest, possibly McGregor hanging the boots up. Hopefully imo.

I'll give them the leeway (even though they don't deserve it) of until after the international break before this scenario is asked of them.

We just CANNOT sleepwalk into the above happening and nobody has any succession planning in place apart from is Lenny in the showers and what players might want to sign for us on the last day of the window.

He experienced his frustrations with the board in bringing in players also.
There is quality out there that is attainable to us. Either we don’t have a competent enough recruitment department or we are not willing to pay the transfer fee/wages to get the deals done.

I do think Idah and Engels have made the board reluctant to part with money as perhaps they would have anticipated seeing a healthy profit on them.

 

Yeah might be so but i just can't see him "running the show" for another season.
