Brentford have bid £45M for Max Beier of Dortmund. That's BRENTFORD! The EPL is out of control now. They are basically killing competition for the majority of clubs in Europe. Outside of England, unless you're a Real Madrid or Bayern Munich(or are backed by a Sugar-daddy like PSG) then you're basically gonna get left behind. The bigger English clubs are now spending in the region of £200M each summer window and even modestly-sized teams like Sunderland are spending massive amounts. Something stinks about the amount of money they are receiving for players too. Fabio Silva the best part of £23M. Carney Chukwuemeka £25M? The guy's hardly kicked a ball FFS less than 50 appearances in 6yrs. And then you have Chelsea, to me the epitome of what is wrong with the EPL, hoovering-up players from every corner of the world and seemingly untouchable when it comes to financial regulations. It'll be a good day when the EPL bubble finally bursts.

Newcastle just bought a 23 year old for £69m
    he’s scored 17 in 33 in Germany.

Sure is out of control but doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.

Desperation partly, the selling club knew and chucked at least 20m on top of the price. Newcastle should have prepared for losing Isak.

It’s guaranteed that they paid well over the odds.

As for Newcastle being prepared with Isak, am not sure about that.

His contract was up until 2028 he was modelling new tops this summer and was happy enough, he wasn’t for sale then he threw a curve ball.

Looks like they need another striker, it will be interesting to see how much they spend again.

Either way these prices for players are mad.

What’s worse too is the prem now is hoovering up all the best talents across the other top divisions. And the other top divisions TV deals have slowly been reducing in ££ as the broadcasters know the neutral fans in Asia/South America/Africa only care about the premier league.

it’s only going to get worse from here. I could also see the FA changing PSR rules to allow clubs to spend whatever they want. After all it’s only gonna benefit English football as a whole if each year 10 clubs are spending £300 mil+ to try win the title

Now they are? Think it’s better than it’s been that way in a long time. Players are more happy to get games in maybe lesser teams for a while until they are experienced enough to sit on City’s bench

Or they might already be Chelsea players.

Nah I don’t mean the kids, I mean full on first team ready players. Woltemade was all but guaranteed to move to Bayern in the German press. Moving to Newcastle is sheer madness to them. There’s been other moves too to middling English teams. Across the board all the English clubs are buying other leagues best players, not just the top 6 teams anymore.

    Spot on there.

21 years ago Henrik’s last contract here, he was 4th highest paid in the Uk. More than Roy Keane. £40k a week that was.

That’s still our maximum, what is Sunderland’s just up? £90k?

I’d imagine xhaka will be on more than that bud. The only bonus could be is the Scottish league begins to be seen as an unexploited market. If other clubs can get it right and develop more Lennon millers there’s no reason we couldn’t see a good influx of money here that then in turn makes us better against better opponents. Otherwise if we’re not careful we won’t even be able to compete with championship clubs soon financially

If you can slow down, freeze frame, scrutinise every touch you’ll find something in most goals scored please please end this VAR nightmare.

I’d rather debate dodgy decisions than watch every ounce of joy being ripped out of scoring a goal because some virgin miles away will look for any reason to make it all about them
