Can’t say I’m an expert but a guy that’s 27 has moved for 12 million to Germany made a good few appearances while over here and is a full Uruguayan international on a risk free loan as a back up Left back is not something to shake our fists at.

As someone who is clearly coming here to provide cover for Tierney I think this looks a good signing. And if it doesn't work we don't take the option to buy. Sensible business don't really see a downside to this.

 

A back up LB is never going to be an exciting signing. Not to say it won’t turn out to be a successful one though.

 

A few days ago, Celtic of Scotland went all out for Marcelo Saracchi . The 27-year-old Uruguayan full-back is stuck at Boca Juniors, no longer playing, to the point that he and Cristian Lema (and Marcos Rojo before leaving for Racing) train in a separate locker room, on another pitch at Boca Juniors, far from their teammates.

Although last week Boca had considered Celtic's proposal for Chelo insufficient (a loan with a low purchase option), in the last few hours there has been a new communication from Europe regarding the player: if they accept the value of the purchase clause that Xeneize is asking for (it would be a figure close to 2,000,000 dollars), the transfer would be imminent.

It's a win-win for all parties. For Saracchi (whose contract expires in 2026) because he could finally complete his exit and play again (even considering the Uruguayan national team); for Celtic because they would get the player they came for ; and for Boca because they're getting rid of a player they don't use and because this departure would also give them a place to sign until August 31st.
