See this debate brendan was backed, always in finance in football you should look at net spend. So since brendan returned:

    Celtic outgoing fees £59.5m
Celtic incoming fees (inc addons) £122.5m

Over net profit on disposal of assets £63m just from player sales!!!

He should have been given £30m this summer to enhance that squad.

He was the only guy in Scotland that made him nervous and question how to defend against him.

I would welcome Miovski, but had a chuckle at that logic, I was desperate for Ciftci because similar for VVD

    Balikwisha 100% it seems.

    Vardy seems likely.

Another winger and a back up LB. I imagine one or both on loan.

Whether we end up with them or not, I think that’s what we will be targeting and (half-heartedly probably) trying to get

Well that’s an interesting option that. Haven’t seen much of him but I can remember the name at RBL.

Played for some massive clubs, with pressure on the players you would think comparable to here with River Plate, Boca and Galatasaray

I’m happy as * for us to make a profit. That’s fine. It needs to be balanced out enough for spending money to keep quality in the team, and that in turn will help us make more profit.

£28m or so brought in, £2.5m to £3.5m spent. If we made say £10m to £8m profit, great.

    But that’s not the case

It should be the 50% rule across the board for replacing players.

If we sell a player for 15m then a 7.5m budget should be allocated to his replacement. If we get them cheaper fine. If we sell a player for 30m then the budget should be 15m.

Its basically how many teams like Feynoord operate, and has proven not only effective, but gradually raised the quality of their squad over years.

But I don't think its actually the real issue. The issue for me is succession planning. We should have an expansive list of players for EVERY position as well as REALISTIC budget allocations to cover the cost. It would appear we dont.

Profit is profit. A club like ours cannot endure without one. But a team like ours cant evolve without a better system that promotes sustained growth.

The other problem is clearly Lawwell, Nicholsen and ultimately Desmond.
They negotiate for players like they are the ones on the receiving end of the bid; dont like our evaluation, we walk away. Then its panic stations come late August and millions gets * away for 2m punts and panic buys. Theyve been at for years now, still shopping in the same market for players they were decades ago, yet selling at a far higher rate of return. Profit is king to them.

Unfortunately, as you say, if they were a little more forward thinking, theyd have increased profit from player trading by simply buying better quality and shopping at slightly higher tier when replacing players who have left.

The amount of money this board has wasted on punts is absolutely scandalous.

I don’t like anything being a set rule there, an overarching guideline that’s not set in stone of some percentage of incoming fees all in re-invested.

As a minimum. And that’s something like 80% to my mind. In a summer after a CL season, it should be 100% or more tbh. With the money we get from that, being so much more than any other reward, and often more than a good year of us selling players.

What you’re saying, we would love definitely, but not something that allows development in the team in different directions than going for a direct replacement.

Thing is, this is semantics on how we’d like to see us backed, but still be very profitable. And this summer, it’s so so far away it almost seems fantasy.

Scandalous is spot on. I think getting KT back, is something they thought would carry a lot more good will to not do much afterwards.

I am expecting 5 in myself by 7pm a week today

    2 wingers
    1 striker
    1 left back
    1 centre mid

Still expect a big name departure or 2 depending on tomorrow night's outcome most likely Daizen.
