Good to see he’s been spending time in Japan and now Sweden

I see we're at the point of the window where fans are clamouring around looking for a scapegoat.

I think it's more the fact that nothing has really changed about the way we do business since we brought him in. Not necessarily his fault, by the way - he could be making loads of really good suggestions and just no one pays them any heed.

Legia Warsaw recently said we hand our negotiations off to an independent 3rd party, so I doubt the assumed * about with negotiations has anything to do with Tisdale. He's just someone in a strategic role. Impossible to tell what kind of job he's doing without updates from the club.

Could be wrong but I don't think he's the issue.

There's no issue identifying players, just look at some of the players we've enquired/monitored this summer.

    Breum
    Forbs
    Munteanu
    Kosugi
    Orjasaeter
    Bacanin
    Jansson

All very good young players within our budget and who would improve the squad.

The issue is when it comes to negotiating deals and agreeing to pay the going rate for talented players.

We all know who's to blame for that

I'm sure the good doctor is well aware of Celtic's ailment. You can identify however many good, affordable players you like, but those aren't only criteria for getting a deal done at Celtic.

You need to identify players we can pilfer for half their value or less. No one else can be interested in them either, because we're not getting into a bidding war. The selling club need to be both desperate to sell and also willing to wait weeks to do so because each stage of progression requires rounding up a small team of golf-course-dwelling OAPs and getting their collective approval for every single decision, however minor. If the selling club suggest a fee we see as unreasonable at any stage, we will withdraw from negotiations only to open them again 2 weeks later as if nothing has happened.

What's Tisdale meant to do about any of this? If DD and co didn't like doing business this way, they would do otherwise.

As much as this window is a bit *, I am impressed with getting the Deadwood out the door . Hopefully he had some good signings to come in but that's expecting too much I think

Again don’t think he’s the issue, he is the one that will identify and scout plus help get ones out the door. He’s not holding the purse strings.

Lot of the players who have been linked have been decent talent. Lots linked in their local media which I always say gives weight to it. Its the board that are the issue here not tisdale.

One of the ITK posters on KDS mentioned previously how we’d “never been more prepared” with a list of targets going into the summer, but that the problem was on the negotiation side and the age of time it takes the people responsible to react to anything.

Could be bollocks but wouldn’t surprise me if it were the case.

Just credible targets and players signed this season alone. He’s doing his job.

And that’s just the spread of players we find as credible links and serious targets.

They won’t be the only ones by a long shot, there will be a lot deemed high up the list for must signs that are just a non-starter upon any contact about it.

The targets we’ve had this summer, seem more targeted for what you want in the squad that others won’t bring, from a wide array of leagues and countries, the scouting feels better than a long long time. Since Park left.

Frustration for me is, we can give a list of the 10 future balon d’Or’s, £1m each, gagging to sign here. And if the board don’t make that happen, then none of it matters does it.

Nygren though, that’s down to him IMO

Agree generally that identifying players is not the problem.

But he is at least partially responsible for improving the footballing side of the club in terms of recruitment and development, so he should be visible, talking to fans, setting out his targets and reporting/accountable on that element of the clubs performance.

Was their a recruitment review after last 2 windows?
    What was outcome?
    We should be told.

Sounds completly plausible.. taking entire summer to sign a winger, that other team saying how slow we are, the silly incremental offers..

The problems not to much player identifying, its that last stage of buying them. They only work fast when the price is bargain basement pennies.

    As Sutton said. Dr Do-little

I normally never slate the head of recruitment as there is a bigger problem (The board) but this guys track record is nothing short but pathetic, and the whole purpouse of his career have been buying (extremely) cheap.

He IS a part of the problem. Of that i am 100% sure.

He did not hire himself though.

We don't know if he is or isn't.

But I'm going on the side of him not being. Given the rumours of low balling etc I think the issue is more about handing the money over once players have been identified.

I really couldn't care what sort of person he is or how he comes across.

The simple fact is that multiple people who have came into this role over the last 10 years have all said the same thing. Congerton said Lawwell wouldn't sanction deals for better players, Lawwell Jr was asked to target International players at £4m or less and clubs CEOs are now coming out calling out how we negotiate. Our bids are being laughed out the room.

That's not on Tisdale. It's his job to identify the players and create a target list with the manager. Nicholson and McKay are the deal makers and it's their responsibility to negotiate the transfers.
