And Shin could have had one or two goals. Yang was bright on the side and I thought Benji was the standout player because that's why we brought him to the club. We know he wants to score goals, he can score goals. And his first one he anticipates really well, the second one's a brilliant finish with his right foot."

Feel a bit for him, he nearly gets a goal two minutes into the game at Falkirk but the defender scores an own goal directly infront of him.
Disallowed goal yesterday where he wasn't the one offside. Once he gets one more will come.
Very happy to have him in the squad if a new number nine comes in

Felt Yamada did well yesterday, unlucky with the header but few snatchy finishes otherwise. His touch for the chance where Murray put him through needs to better.

Overall though it was a decent showing and encouraging he was getting into the right areas. Just needs to be find that ruthless finishing.

I'd start him through the middle midweek. I think Forrest and Yang are both more impactful sprung from the bench so Nygren Yamada Maeda would be my 3 for that game.

Looked lively, does move around a lot and make runs, nice turn that one he took on the heel and spinned but should probably have layed it out wide instead of trying to take a guy on, quite alert in the box getting on 3/4 things and could have scored.

Would keep him in for the Kazakhstan game, im sure his team reached the Asian Champions League final last season so he is probably used to playing in these type of countries and climates and calibres of teams and stuff.

Go with Maeda, him and Nygren wide with Forrest and Yang to come on.

Just play him. We know Idah and Kenny's level.

You know Kenny's level? How is that?

Again I have to point out that Kenny has played 250 minutes of competitive football now for Celtic, scoring 2 goals. Yamada has played 133 minutes and has yet to score.

As I said I thought Yamada did well at the weekend and should start midweek but I find it laughable Kenny can be judged after 250 minutes of competitive football. He's also 3 years younger than Yamada.

Cool. Yea, he's not our level. It's not much of a leap.

Yamada might not be either but an unknown quantity.

Yeah I'm just questioning how you can deduce one striker after 250 minutes when he's actually scored 2 goals to not be at our level and be unsure on another striker after 133 minutes who has yet to score. Will you be sure on Yamada after 250 minutes or is the bar just set a lot higher for our Irish players than it is for our Japanese players?

Ah, you are the Liam Scales defender. Maybe you have the bias agenda, not everyone else.

Yes, I think some of the abuse Scales gets is completely irrational and really unfair. Are you one of the Liam Scales bashers? He had another solid game again yesterday but being objective doesn't come into it with you it seems

I'm very balanced. I try and judge players on the same basis. You seem to be the guy with the double standards so I will ask you again, why are you writing Kenny off on the basis of 250 minutes he has played for Celtic competitively yet refusing to make a call on Yamada after 133 minutes of competitive football?

I think you also need to weigh up the length of time at the club. Although he hasn't had many minutes, Kenny has had many more opportunities to make the squad and hasn't. He has been around for a while and even without playing, is a much more known quantity for most of us than Yamada is.

Kenny spent half a season on loan at Queens Park and 2 seasons at Shamrock Rovers. He was a teenager when he arrived and was with the B team at that time. It's only since he came back at the end of January did he start being involved with the first team and has only played 250 minutes for us since then.

Rodgers obviously sees something in him and he did well off the bench Saturday. Having just turned 22 and having only featured 250 minutes then I think it's fair to say it's very premature to write him off.

I just can't grasp how you can write Kenny off now on that yet not hold a similar criteria for Yamada.

Well we can see you have a pre conceived narrative and are not interested in how players actually perform.

Like I said, although he's been out on loan for the majority of his time with us, people are much more aware of him and his abilities. Being out on loan for so long isn't always a positive for fan opinion either.

Yamada on the other hand is somebody that most people have only heard of in the last couple of months and is still settling in, adapting to the system and the players around him. He has unknown potential for us.

We're so fickle anyway that we might have given up on him by the time he gets to the same minutes as Kenny.

You'd imagine Kenny is the guy with more scope for potential. He scored 7 goals in half a season of European football last year and is 3 years younger than Yamada.

Again I find hard for the different criteria two players in the same position have in place to judge. Irish players and some of our Scottish players get it very, very hard from in comparison to our foreign buys.

We've only seen both in limited action to date so I'm willing to let them see how they progress and do with the chances presented.

As I said, I thought both did well on Saturday and think Yamada deserves his opportunity tomorrow.

Not gonna jinx this, I hope, but that was all very positive... Rusty as * display, but all the raw materials needed where there... As he settles and finds timing with the others, or as the games/season progress and other squads tire and leave more space he could be quite dangerous on initial displays... :39:
