I think they care that we drew against Kairat. Risking CL football

He'd have signed if we won that game. Is that the right mentality of player we want? Hmm. We're in such a state on the wings we can't really say no.

I have no issue with it. Actually it shows he has ambition and probably has some other options to consider.

Im sure weve made plenty of signings where the player would never turn down a team like Celtic, but it doesnt necessarily make them any good.

Where is it saying he'd have signed if we won?

He was linked last year when CL football was guaranteed. I think just assuming he's waiting to see if we get there this season is giving our board far too much credit

Have a bad vibe about this guy. I feel like Rodgers doesnt rate him at all.

Praying he gives us something on the wing … we need to let the guy be * on his own accord first before any judgements are made about him :56:

Stats look pretty decent in a better league to be fair

Celtic have stepped up their talks for Michel-Ange Balikwisha with Royal Antwerp open to selling him for “the right price”, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about Celtic‘s pursuit of the Belgium Under-21s forward.

Balikwisha is a long-term target for the Hoops and his signing would allow Daizen Maeda to make a full-time move into a central attacking position, as Antwerp continue to drive a hard bargain for the winger.

Football Insider revealed on 15 August that Balikwisha wants to make the move to Celtic after Brendan Rodgers‘ side first declared their interest in him 12 months ago, and talks are now set to accelerate.

Sources have told Football Insider that with Balikwisha into the last 12 months of his contract at Royal Antwerp and talks ongoing with Celtic, the Belgian club are open to selling the 24-year-old this summer.

Football Insider revealed on 17 August that Celtic had prioritised Go Ahead Eagles’ Jakob Breum over Balikwisha in their hunt for a new winger, but those prioritised have now changed in the Belgian’s favour.

Speaking on the new Inside Track podcast, O’Rourke stated that Celtic’s bid for Balikwisha will succeed if Rodgers’ side qualify for the Champions League, ahead of their qualifying second-leg against Kairat.

They’re still pursuing a deal for Michel-Ange Balikwisha”, he told Football Insider.

He’s been a long-term target, and talks are ongoing between Celtic and Antwerp to see if they can get a deal over the line.

“Balikwisha is into the last 12 months of his contract, and the Belgian club – though they’re driving a hard bargain at the minute – would be open to selling him for the right price.

“A lot will depend on Celtic’s participation in the league stages of the Champions League.”

Although Balikwisha’s potential arrival at Parkhead would mean a full-time move into the middle for Maedathis season, even the prolific Japanese international can’t mask Celtic’s clear need for a striker.

My biggest gripe with this now is that it's taken backlash following mid week for the biggest update in the history of this transfer rumour to happen.

If he signs before our wualification status is decided then we evidently could have had this done before the play off.

I dont think he was our first, second or third choice option tbh, only reason its possibly taken this long.

My hunch is that when Rodgers has been stressing the importance of getting quality in and not just bodies in the door - this is one of the guys hes been referring to.

If Rodgers was keen, and we were tracking him for an eternity then I think hed have been at the club by now.

I agree. The fee isn't going to be that big. I know we are tight but I can't see us stalling on the price that's rumoured if we are that keen on him. I think the delay is prob us, or more likely Rodgers preferring other targets and Balikwisha is left twiddling his thumbs. He doesn't seem to be swimming in offers either. I don't buy that he's waiting on us qualifying either that's just the newest coping mechanism from the fans because we've all got PTSD from the continuing transfer saga shitstorm, going back years.

Royal Antwerp boss Stef Wils admits he is surprised that Celtic target Michel Ange-Balikwisha is still at the club.

The Belgian winger has been on Brendan Rodgers' radar for 12 months and reports in Belgium now claim that the two parties are finally close to agreeing a £4.5million deal.

And Wils has been taken aback that Balikwishaand two other wantaway stars, Senne Lammens and Mahamadou Doumbia have not yet been snapped up.

Goalkeeper Lammens is reportedly poised to land a £17million switch to Manchester United while teams in England and France have been credited with an interest in Mali international Doumbia.

Speaking ahead of the league clash against Mechelen, Wils said: "I had thought beforehand that some outgoing files would be finalized more quickly, yes.

"But I'm obviously not sad that I can still count on them."

There’s no way we need CL to convince this guy.

Quite frankly I do not see anything that makes me happy about this player. Don’t think he is good enough.

Likewise, if there was genuine interest & he was good enough, we would have signed him 12 months ago.

At this stage, this is the epitome of a panic buy to try and improve this visuals.
