We're honestly going to approach the season with Ralston and Donovan as our right backs. Christ.

Aye i dont think we'll go for a RB, it'll be Ralston and Donovan.

 

Be a kick in the teeth to both Ralston and Donovan, for different reasons, if we signed someone short term because AJ is out until November.

I'm all for giving them the chance. Otherwise the academy is absolutely pointless

 

he gave good energy though.

 

I think Bernardo could be a really good makeshift right back to cover for a few months. We aren’t going to sign a right back at this stage unless its a loan.

I don't care who it upsets or anything, if we somehow manage to get in to the champs league, going with Ralston and Donovan will be torturous viewing..

Aye agreed, it's no time for handholding, things are * as it is. I think we can all agree Donovan and Ralston aren't up to Europe and potentially two season-defining Glasgow Derbies, let alone games at Tynecastle or Easter Road.

I genuinely don't get the whole notion that every time a player is injured for 3 months we need to sign someone to replace them.

If they're out for 9 months like Jota, then aye, fair. But we can cope with 3 months of Ralston. He's always contributed well when he's had a run of games. People judge him on the odd minutes here and there but whenever he's had a run he's been solid for us.

Donovan looks promising to me, most impressive academy youngster in pre season. If we can't give him an opportunity when there is an injury, when can we?

No wonder our academy is redundant.

 

Agree.

Ralston's been up against high level European opponents when playing for Scotland too. Sure we play differently from Scotland but in all honesty if we get into the CL proper well have to be defensively compact which is exactly what he's had to do in those games.

Same for Donovan - he's at an age where he should be getting some level of trust in this situation or what's the point.

 

Got to feel for AJ - he's played so many games. We've run him into the ground like KT in his first stint.
He was playing with pain injections last season, played international football in June, then had a 2 week break before coming back for a very short pre season in comparison to most of the group.
He's a massive loss for us as he's obviously a top class defender but he's one of our main attacking threats.
