He's only really touched the ball once I think since he's played, was against Aberdeen when he went on a wee run cut in and had a shot.

Other than that he's tussled with a few defenders and made a few runs but not really near the ball.

He should have started against Falkirk.

It's early days but I'm certainly not seeing the pace some people reckon he had.

I’ve seen enough, I know he’s only had minutes
In those minutes running around like a headless chicken doesn’t do it for me.

    Send him out on loan.

Early days but he looks worryingly brainless.

    Needs a start though.

Never likely to come good with just 25 minute cameos.

Jury is still out on him although he has looked quite poor in the limited time he has had.

Just have to remember he's came on when we have already done alot of subs etc so it's not like he's had a fair crack with our first picks.

I’m really at a loss as to why he didn’t start vs Falkirk.

New signings need a chance at game time to build some momentum and get to know the way their teammates play, and I don’t think he’s been given that.

So far he’s run about but done * all, Idah doesn’t run about and does * all. That’s the choice we have. Early days for him though so still has the benefit of the doubt.

Find it difficult to judge him but he hasn’t had an impact so far.

Don’t understand why our fanbase does this.

It’s such a toxic trait. There is pressure playing for Celtic and it’s gets really silly when things are going our way.

It’s as if people want to find negatives to beat the board with and a failed transfer would be that.

Let the guy get some starts. He’s barely in the door and he’s being brought into games in strange situations where they are either finished, or high pressure like last night.

Not starting him vs Falkirk means we don't really know what we've got for the important matches this month. Pish man management from Rodger's tbh.

Don't actually think he should've been brought on last night when Yang on the left and Maeda through the middle seemed to be working okay. Game was begging for McCowan to be brought on at RW and take some shots against that under 21 keeper. Plus it would've kept Yang and Maeda where they looked more dangerous.

McCowan played right wing at St Johnstone last year to close out the game and had a shocker there. He is not a right winger. He actually started his career out as a winger and it was only when he moved to a central midfield spot did his career start to go anywhere.

Hate that if a new striker doesn't score in his first 3 cameos that's all the negatives coming out.

Give the guy some time man.

Just out of curiosity is the same leeway given to Johnny Kenny who has 1 goal in 229 minutes of competitive football for Celtic?

    Yes.

Kenny's not up to the level physically and doesn't exactly have much in the way of pace either. As of yet. A loan looks best for him.

Yamada we've yet to find out. Hasn't yet been given a single start, for example. Kenny we saw in a small flurry of games last season and regularly in pre-season. Has also started a couple of times.

You're allowed to think Kenny isn't what we need whilst reserving judgement on Yamada

Based on what though? Yamada has played 64 minutes of football, Kenny 229 minutes. Do we wait until Yamada has played 229 minutes of football to decide he's not what we need? I think Yamada has failed to score in his last 20 appearances or something like that.

People were talking Yamada as the next big thing after a 45 minute friendly cameo v Ajax while calling Kenny rubbish over on the other thread.

We either give both decent chances to prove themselves or we write both off very quickly.

Gets time like all new signings, but he's not screaming out that he's a straight up first pick option, something we have been screaming out for to replace kyogo

He's a punt, who knows if he comes good or not.

But tell you what, I'd rather him start over idah all day long.
We at least have movement in the final third and the tempo increases.

I think we've had time to see a bit more of Kenny. Kenny has been at Celtic for nearly 4 years and was obviously viewed as a long-term signing.

I don't think 4 years after he arrived that we're seeing a particularly well developed player. I would be surprised if he's now significantly better than he was when he arrived back in 2022. Went back to Ireland to play for Shamrock Rovers and his goal return was nothing beyond fine if we're being honest.

Now he's had a flurry of games in the Celtic first-team and doesn't look particularly great. If Yamada comes in and gets the same amount of minutes Kenny has, even from the bench and a couple of starts, and still looks ineffective, then yeah the reaction will be stronger and rightly so.

Players need to find a level of form relatively quickly at Celtic to survive in the first-team (unless your one of the manager's wee favourites). I'm just saying 60 odd minutes or whatever it is so far isn't enough. If in 4x that amount of game-time he's still not showing anything then yeah I would suggest it's fair to be more critical.

We really need to see him starting a game to judge, from the Aberdeen game he made a lot of good runs and movement so he’s already doing more than the statue. Definitely need another striker or 2 in if we can punt Idah.

We haven't actually. Kenny has played 229 minutes of competitive football - that is all we've had to see of him. Around 8 months ago he was sitting as one of the top scorers in a European football competition. So when Yamada gets to 229 minutes do we judge him like we judge Kenny? If not, why have we different criteria?

I don't see why the bar should be a lot higher for Kenny than it should be for Yamada who is actually 3 years older than Kenny.
