How does sack the board mean sack the manager? :43:

The football under rodgers especially towards the end of last season was awful to watch .

He spent big money by celtic standards on below average footballers .

Even tonight Mccowan one of our more creative players over the last week or two left on the bench...

I think folk underestimate the sheer scale of the lack of backing he has had. In the 2 years that he has been here, our net spend so far has been minus 51.92 million pounds. That doesn't include sell-on fees for the likes of Frimpong.

People say that we can't afford to spend too much on transfers playing in Scotland and possibly, they are right; but if we want to back the manager, can we at least afford to do zero?

When the crowd start chanting that the manager is normally gone within days, fairly straightforward?

He means that when fans start chanting that, the usual outcome at most clubs is that the board throw the manager under the bus. He's not wrong.

Usually it does as those kinda chants and protests are when clubs are in a bad way and performances on the pitch are terrible..

It's a slightly different case for us and he knows fine well it isn't on him..

Was a wee way of him trying to difuse the questioning by taking the dairy.....in my opinion anyway..

The board were fully aware of his record in the market over his career and again those players all contributed to CL knockout football and a double last season. If the board see any of those players fees as a reason to not back him then they should sack him as they don't trust him. Bear in mind Rodgers also doesn't set the fee we chased Idah all summer and his price seemed to increase week on week.

Also coming in to these qualifiers short of where we need to be is nothing new regardless of who is in the dugout

I can't think of any examples of that ever happening? But the fans are quite literally saying "sack the board". So it doesn't mean sack the manager in that context does it?

McCowan should have played a part , he's the only one who can create half a yard and get a good shot off, which we where crying out for . He absolutely * 32m quid last summer aswell.

He wasn't saying the fans meant that. "Mean" is quite a polysemous verb. He was using "mean" in the sense highlighted below:

No mate not in context, but what BR was saying was that he's more likely to get sacked than they are to be sacked.

Think it's a dig at the board tbh, sounded like he ment the board would turn it round onto him to save themselves.

He meant no board sack themselves. They sack the manager when there is discontent from the stands.

When have you ever seen the board gone before the manager? Regardless of whether the fans are disgusted at the board. Look at Man Utd. How many managers did the Glaziers see off?

Our net spend last summer was negative £10.6 million, which is roughly the same as it has been every window since he came back. Engels and Trusty were integral parts of a team that won a double and gave us our best CL campaign (by far) in over a decade. We certainly way overpaid on Idah, but that's about all you can throw at him (and even that is partly on the board for not getting an option to buy with his loan when his stock was low).

Exactly and in that is my point. Rodgers is the boards human shield we get * all from the board ever in terms of updates or anything it's all left to the manager to front in interviews. The squad is miles off where it should be that's solely on the board not the manager regardless of any past transfers

I remember when BR left the first time, thinking if there was any point in giving anything to Celtic, when an elite manager who was one of us was allowed to go, simply because he wanted us to raise our stature and again be a team in Europe with a high pedigree, despite our constraints. We had only, 2 seasons before, matched Manchester City over 2 games. And he wanted us to solidify that and kick on. Let's not forget that Ajax made the semi final in 2019 with similar resources to us.

BR is a Celtic man at heart, and he knows where we couldn't possibly afford to shop, but there are always chinks of light and miracles possible.

I'm not saying we could win the big one again, but at least get in there and make a decent fist of it.

We did it last year and the board have effectively flipped him the bird with the buying and selling policy, which is probably the worst I have ever seen.

We must also be mindful that WGS left because of the tight-fistedness of the board, and all he wanted to do was bury R****s (though they did that themselves).

Ultimately the board is rotten, we got rid of the last one, it's time to go again.

The Board is ruthless. They won't hesitate to sack Rodgers if we go out.

I'm sure they even have a replacement in mind already, if we do go out.
