Nah nah, invite him on a two week trial an not look at any other options in the meantime. Then not sign him.

….. skips to post #1 to see the source..

    :drag:

The only 39/40 year old I’ve ever wanted to do a season at Celtic was ‘Zlatman’… in fact… knackered and retired… I’d still rather have him..

… or that Japanese player who’s heading towards 60.

    ‘Mon the walking football!

I thought those days of signing swan song EPL "legends" looking for a last ditch shot at silverware were over.

Wait, * am I thinking. * all has changed in TWO * DECADES.

We're still shopping in the same 1-4m financial bracket despite inflation, a modern market, and the financial evolution of the game.
Lawwell is still at the club.
Desmond is still at the club.
    We're still European also-rans.
We're still throwing 1-2m clumps of * at the barn door hoping one of them stick.
We're still making the same market excuses every window, like "working hard" and "monitoring".

And the club hierarchy still treat one of the most passionate, loyal, dedicated, fervent and famous fan bases on the face of the planet like * atm machines.

We need to get this * DeLorian up to 88 miles per hour ffs.

Would i be over the moon with it? Probably not. Do I think he could do a job? Probably yes.

Looking at his goals and stuff from last season he still looks sharp for his age to give him his due he's a very natural finisher when he gets the chance and if we are being brutally honest as sad as it is right now at 38 hes probably still better than any of our current strikers at the club.

Would bother me a bit less if hadn’t had that incident where he called a guy a “j*p” tbh. Seems like a bit of a classless *.

As a general rule I’d rather we weren’t signing 38 year old Jamie Vardys, but based on his performances last season and the forward options we currently have, it’s difficult not to see this as being an upgrade.

So I guess you sign Vardy and hope the board sort themselves out for next season, which of course they won’t.

Have we actually made him an offer? That article just says he's keen on a move.

It was inevitable he'd get linked this summer at some point.

I don't like the type of signing but that dont mattter if he do the job and score goals. We have 0 strikers that can score a goal. Vardy can and im sure he would score both in the league and in europe for a season.

He would be good, but the bitter taste of the boards mismanagement of the club is what worries me that we are even discussing this.

I would have no problem having Vardy on our bench to sub on.

He will definitely score goals up here and I think he would be a good influence on our younger players and can teach them, that said I'm not too keen on this

If he can stay fit he should bang in goals which is all we need right now.

If you search for Vardy on the forum there’s a cracking discussion from 2012 when we were linked with him when he was at fleetwood town.

Thread ends with “Leicester and Southampton have had a £1m bid rejected, close the thread”.

You’ve got to say, if we sign him then that is the single greatest piece of monitoring this board has ever performed.

No thanks. Maeda a far better option up top. He’ll be another Defoe. We need wingers.

I think its a sign of absolute failure that this is where we have gotten to, but ultimately Id start a half fit 39 year old Vardy over Idah so I cant really object to the idea.

Its pathetic on so many levels - just an absolute failure to plan, no strategy, no real targets. Even if we were keen on Vardy he should have been in the door 2 months ago to get match fit instead of now.

I hate this is where we are...but Id still take him

Absolutely reeks of desperation. If we wanted him, we could have gone for him 2 months ago. It just screams that we have no idea what the * we are actually doing so will just bring him in as he is a free agent. I wouldn’t actually be raging with the signing as such, but more annoyed at what our strategy, or lack of it seems to be. As * usual.
