It would be good to see him go out on loan to another spfl side. Would be a real test for him.

Not sure he’d play much at Dundee, across their whole squad the defence especially looks their strongest area

We won’t be sending him or anyone else out if there’s no guarantee of getting games

Loans don’t work like that now though do they. City will have sent JSP to us under the pretence we play him. No guarantees he plays in front of scales/CCV and trusty is there though. They’ll have to prove themselves before they get games

No idea myself whats likely. If he is capable of getting decent game time then a loan move to Dundee would be great experience. Otherwise a loan move to Ary is not a bad option either.

You would think not otherwise the loan move would make no sense at all.

A lot of the elite clubs make sure of clauses that they play, Liverpool being the the one that demand if fit they play or they get compensated. They had that even with Nat Phillips and he did until we decided better he not play and we pay the compo instead.

They do it with every player. Some only have it for very high rated prospects.

I’ve never heard City doing it though, they highly rate JSP but I imagine they’d rather he learns to earn a place and have that pressure of keeping it here, and if he’s to make it for them then he should have rhe ability to hold down first choice.

I don’t think the likes of Dundee would agree to a clause like they need to play from a loan for one of our youngsters for one but regardless, if we rate him enough to come into our first team after getting games under his belt, then I wouldn’t want us to do anything like that either.

If we think he needs more games and maybe another loan next season to step up then Ayr is the move. If we think he’s on the cusp then it’s Dundee and a season in the top league.

The only obvious example of the latter, maybe the only one for that, was Ajer to Killie under Steve Clarke. And that was under the understanding that he plays CB because we viewed him as one, but had mostly played midfield his games before us. Infact Leo Hjelde to County, but we didn’t sort his contract for one, and he was Ajer’s mate who we’d refused a move for after promising him not to stand in his way a good move to get him. And tried to say that to Hjelde.

Think he’s done * all and that was a poor move from him in hindsight, not actually checked. But that’s the two examples for that I can think of. Generally we’re * at loaning players
