There are some differences. Lat year we sold MOR quite late in the window. So the reasons put forward for doing deals late was that they wanted to the money from players sales first.

This year we did the Kuhn sale much earlier so the player trading profit was locked up well in advance. We also knew months ago that Jota had a long term injury. We knew we had to qualify for the CL this year. And we had advance notice from the fixture list that our first month of the season included away trips to Pittodire and Ibrox - the 2nd and 3rd placed teams from last year. With all that - leaving replacing a first choice starter to the last week of the window seems especially remiss.

We also knew well in advance that Taylor and Schlupp were leaving and that KT was unlikely to be able to play 90M in games. Leaving Scales there as a deputy LB also seems pretty remiss.

Theres no problem doing some business late in the window. But given what we knew well in advance in this specific window its kind of incredible they couldn't have at least had at least one wide player replacement in to cover a key starting position by now.

The fact Celtic have been quiet in this summer’s transfer window has opened the floodgates for what people like to call “fake news.”
I despise the term, but at times it’s the only way to describe the utter nonsense that surfaces across social media feeds.
The most frustrating part, for me, is the eagerness of certain media accounts—more often than not based abroad—to jump on the bandwagon and use Celtic as an easy headline.
For context: I’ve spent the past few weeks covering football down south and, frankly, it’s a free-for-all. So many clubs, so many rumours, so many inaccuracies that it’s impossible to keep track. Policing it is a nightmare.
Scottish football is different. It’s smaller, closer-knit, and the supporters are—dare I say—more intense when it comes to transfers. If you’re a reporter and you get one wrong, you’re bombed out.
And by “wrong,” I mean reporting interest when it arrives, which is how journalism works. When a source pings you on WhatsApp or gives you a call, you follow it up. But more often than not, that early interest doesn’t materialise into a deal. That doesn’t mean the interest wasn’t real.
I’ve had my fair share of criticism from fans over this. Ferreira from Grêmio to Celtic was genuine interest before it went cold. Celtic also really liked Casper Tengstedt before he ended up at Benfica.
The point is: it’s never easy to separate the wheat from the chaff in the transfer market, while still trying to keep your reputation intact—especially in this era of digital sports reporting.
The latest noise comes from David Strelec’s camp. More specifically, from his dad.
Sources confirmed to CeltsAreHere earlier this week—and again the week before—that Celtic had not initiated conversations over the Slovakian striker. His father used Celtic’s name to keep his son in the conversation for a move. We’re only surprised he didn’t say Celtic and Rangers, which is the classic lazy trick of generic transfer reporting.
The window still has a few weeks left, and Brendan Rodgers is clear: he wants two wingers and a striker. That’s never changed.
Michel-Ange Balikwisha was always a long shot, and now it’s looking like a complete non-starter.
Jakub Breum is admired, but Celtic won’t open the wallet. Go figure.
The only rumour we’ve been able to put any real weight behind is Calvin Stengs. Celtic have made contact with the player himself, but crucially, they’ve yet to open talks with Feyenoord.

Between now and September, plenty more names will be thrown around with little substance behind them. The real question is: how many will actually walk through the door at Celtic Park?
    If anyon

By the way we are conducting business the wait and see who is available last minute and who teams don’t want players is utter *.

I can’t understand why we can plan ahead and be proactive, it’s just a * joke.

I still can't believe we have not signed a winger. It's a different level of incopentence from what were even used to.
There is literally zero excuse for not having one in yet. :56:

I’m completely detached from the Transfer Window now.

Full focus on a busy period on the pitch and whatever happens transfer wise happens.

I’ve got no expectations and I’m not reading rumours.

Come on you Bhoys in Green
Stengs would be a great signing but I feel if we were to sign him we need a pacey/explosive winger aswell. Should be all over Bischoff especially for the reported 6 million euros.

It's clear the media are just completely guessing at this stage.

I think we have reached the point now that anyone coming in won’t have much of an impact to the qualifier even if they made the deadline. What they could do is share the workload with those that will have to play those games. So play Livi and Rangers.

To me this has gone beyond all previous failures the only thing that comes close was Ange season one for Midtjylland but even that was earlier in the window.

It's also likely too late for them to have any impact on game at Ibrox now too. So potentially 1 of 4 title deciders just written off too.

A * ridiculous way to do business

    It's theft.

Basically refusing to even spend the Khun money.

We are keeping our cards close to our chest I suspect. Think we will see movement between the Kairat games, definitely before the Huns game.
