Rodgers was pleased with the overall efforts of his squad and had particular praise for match-winner Donovan.

Still just 18, the teenager started at right-back before being substituted off at half-time and then brought back on after the injury sustained by Welsh.

"He's been excellent. He's a boy who's very competitive, and I like him," Rodgers said. " I can see the development from last year when he played. He's very aggressive. He passes forward.

"He'll become a bit less rash as his career moves forward, but I like his personality and I like his dominance. He can play football, which you have to be able to do when you play for Celtic. It was nice for him to get that winning goal.

Needs to get a loan to someone in our division. Hes definitely good enough. If not I’d also be sending him to Ayr along with Bonnar

There is something to work with in Donovan, for one he has the physical attributes but there are areas of his game particularly defensively he needs to improve. I agree a loan to a Premiership team would do him good.

I don't see much in most of the B team players tbh.

But hope to be proven wrong.

    Agreed.

They pretty much all look a million miles away from being ready.

It is mad that we’re not seeing a single stand out “star”. I know not all of them ever went on to actually do much after but for the past 15 years I feel we’ve always had one potential “superstar”esque kid coming through each age group.

I know footballs moving away from individuality and more team focused but it’s worrying we don’t seem to have any stand outs.

I genuinely think we need to * the youth set up off and try buy another Scottish team that we can then send/start all our kids at.

He's looked poor defensively the few times I've seen him..

Was in-between him and Murray where the Dutch boy kept getting plenty joy. In a real game he would've been booked for dragging their player back as well..

Thought the boy done well again today. Enjoyed seeing him skinning Anthony Gordon towards the end of the match

He's looked good with each appearance, he should be given a decent loan out as he's not quite ready for the first team

The thing he’s got going for him over a lot of our youth players is physicality. He’s a big guy who could really fill out into his frame, has decent pace and is decent both defensively and offensively.

A good loan to a St Mirren, DUTD, Falkirk and let him play Right back would do him good.

He has a wee bit about him..

Quite cool on the ball and technically decent. Big, athletic boy..

They got in on his side once or twice but he could be a player in the future if he gets a good loan..

Impressed with him. Think his energy played a part in our performance picking up towards the end of the game. Not sure he'll be starting games but definitely deserves some minutes in competitive matches to see how he fairs.

Or, as said above, a loan to a decent level.

Definitely worth a loan at a decent level to see what he can do.

That would be a good move to get him out in the Premiership for a season as he is still young. Out of most of our youth players he is one that you could see become at least a squad player.

Dundee have held talks with Celtic over Colby Donovan.

The Dark Blues are keen on the young right-back who has impressed with the Celtic B-team.

The 18-year-old feels he's ready to step up to the Premiership level.

Ayr United are also interested in a loan for the 18-year-old.

The Honest Men have a cooperation agreement with the Scottish champions.

Manager Scott Brown is keen to add Donovan but faces competition from his former Celtic teammate Pressley.
