If we aren't considered a far better team than this lot then we'd be as well shutting the doors at CP.

Just watched the highlights of both legs against Slovan.

They appear lucky to be through. Looked all over the place away from home, most chances they did create were shots from outside the box. Slovan missed a few.

Even the away leg over there, doesn't seem like they created much. The pitch has a running track around it so not overly intimidating either..big park as well to pass about on. Not as intimidating an atmosphere as Bratislava would have been where they're right on top of you.

Despite the position of the forward line, no excuses here. I don't think this lot are even as good as Astana or Karagandy. I remember the former had a couple players I'd have taken here in Maksimovic and a forward. Can't see that with Almaty.

Obviously still need to get the job done but we should have more than enough over two legs.

Are we through to the group stages if we win this ?

They have a 17 year old forward, Satpaeyev. Who seems to be a big threat. Basically did everything for them against the Finnish champions.

I didn't think they would beat Slovan, so we have to be careful here.

I think we need at least a two goal lead, to make this uncomfortable long journey into the unknown a bit more relaxed. They have some dangerous forwards, and they are a bit of an unknown quantity football wise to most of us.

    Naw.
I don't think I could stand the risk of more clean air swipes by Maeda in front of goal or slipping on his * in the final third, in what will be the most important game of the season for us.
It will be Idah, rightly or wrongly.

I actually think slovan would have been the harder draw due to the "aw we beat.them easy last time" mantra. Like Aberdeen before the cup.. dodgy as *.

This team toiled badly against slovan and basically got lucky and that in its self should give us confidence. Plus a new team means the players won't subconsciously rest as much.

Genuinly could not have got a better draw.

Means we'll get * in the groups... due a bad draw.

Rogers will stick what he sees as tried and trusted (trusted, sadly not Trusty)
    Kasper
    AJ - CCV - Scales - KT
    Nygren - Calmac - Hattate
    Forrest - Idah - Maeda

We need to press really hard and play at a real high intensity. They'll be jet lagged too.
We need to be scoring goals similar to Johnston's at the weekend.

Wonder if he's going to play Nygren out wide and start Engels

Nygren didn't look very comfortable in the short time he had out wide v Falkirk.
Cant see the manager experimenting on such a big game.

  15. I would pick

    Schmeichel
    Johnston CCV Trusty Tierney
    McGregor
    Engels Hatate
    Nygren Maeda Forrest

I think they will be robotic and pish really but probably a lot of tall players and decent in the air, maybe fit and sharp.

Get Trusty in over Scales for pace on the recovery.

Engels in for legs and running in midfield, he looks quick to me this season and for corner delivery, a wee team like them probably never seen a good corner coming in lol

Maeda through the middle to harrass them at the back and their keeper and rush them to keep them pinned in.

Nygren and Forrest wide since they are the biggest goal threats we have out wide the now and probably the best at providing balls in as well.

Get them pinned in and set right about them, take 3/4 at least off them.

Preferably be 3-0 up by the 60th and stick on Idah, Yang and McCowan to get another goal or two with fresh legs to end it, Scales also even fresh off the bench to replace Tierney.

  16. Needs to be ended in this tie for me as well, no 1-0 or 2-0 or 2-1 type result. Got to be 3/4/5/6-0.

So we can go over there relaxed, knock the ball about like a friendly, maybe score first then make 2/3 subs at HT and see it out pish easy with no fuss.

2-0 only acceptable if it's off the back of a battering where they got lucky it wasn't 6.

    We will hammer these.

Seen a couple of Celtic fans saying ahh well if we don't qualify we will still be in the Europa league. * up. IF we don't beat this mob over 2 legs then might as well wrap it up. I want to see Celtic in the champions league not the Europa. Have standards dropped that bad? No guarantee we would even get close to the final of the Europa league if we don't beat Kiarat ffs

He's some talent. Already joining Chelsea for £4 mill when he turns 18. Imagine having a world wide scouting network & a modern analytics team. Sweeping up all the great prospects. If only Celtic......

So that's him on the loan out farm for 4 years. Then someone like us will sign him anyway.
