They were in the PL for 2 of the 3 seasons he was there I think and tbf he did get some goals for them. He wasn't an Amido Balde or Mo Bangura type disaster. Kvistgaarden might actually be OK but it just shows me how a lot of fans can put so much faith in a player purely because they like the sound of him and then it snowball's from there. Maybe the board were right not to meet his valuation. Who knows? Time will tell.

Time Will tell, but to be totally reaosnable about it, they also play one up top and Sargent looks to be their main striker last few years and Kvistgaarden is getting off the bench time.
Would be a bit mental to drop their number 1 striker in that way.

We've seen it before that players can be hit and miss at different clubs, Pukki being another example, * here, brilliant down there.

I’m usually not a big fan of target men, but with Tierney and AJ as our fullbacks and their incredible crossing, I think whatever striker we sign needs to be good in the air - the amount of balls in the box these past few games that should’ve been goals or at the minimum on target is unreal

Transfer round up from David Friel

CELTIC fans have made their feelings pretty clear about the lack of transfer activity this summer.

But Brendan Rodgers has somewhat softened his stance a few weeks ago from saying he wasn't there to simply maintain standards at the club to being "philosophical" around signings.

But, with a crucial Champions League qualifier coming up against Kairat Almaty and the end of the transfer window looming, the clock is ticking.

There are reports though that the transfer saga of Michel Ange-Balikwisha could be finally coming to an end, there's a new name in the frame in winger Oumar Traore and what does the season hold for young striker Callum Osmand?

SunSport's Ryan Rowe and David Friel pour over the latest transfer rumours and possible exits from the club in this latest Celtic Transfer Special.

What does the future hold for Callum Osmand?
He scored the other night for the Celtic B.

I know for a fact there were a lot of lower league and Premiership managers there watching the game.

Clearly looking at who Celtic have - potentially getting loans there.

And I would imagine Celtic are currently being inundated with requests to take him on loan because he's got a good pedigree, good background.

I think it's up to Brendan Rodgers over the next couple of weeks to decide what's best for his development.

Is he better staying and working with the likes of Daizen Maeda, Adam Idah, Shin Yamada, and the other striker Celtic probably will sign?

Or, is he better going alone and getting a real taste of first team football?

A deal done for a winger?
It felt as if the rumour mill just started again.

The amount of texts I got asking if Balikwisha is signing and speaking to people who are adamant Celtic have already secured a deal for a winger.

I don't know who it is, whether that's true or not, time will tell.

Brendan Rodgers on Thursday certainly seemed a bit more chirpy around signings.

He referred to himself as "philosophical" about the whole situation.

However, when I spoke to him last Friday before the Aberdeen game.

He was a bit more, I don't mean downbeat, but you know we asked him directly, do you expect to have signings in for the qualifier and he said well I can't guarantee that.

    I don't know what's happening, there's nothing imminent.

Thursday it was, he was asked exactly the same question and it was "hopefully".

So I just felt as if there was a sign that things are starting to move

Is Oumar Traore somebody Celtic are looking at?
I looked at his record, his track record, his background, his international appearances.

It doesn't jump off the page at me thinking this is a guy Celtic want or need

I think the price tag that was quoted by africafoot.com, to me, you wouldn't be paying that for someone with such little top level experience.

However, it's so obscure that you begin to think, is there something in it. Time will tell on that one.

I don't think he's one that the fans would be out there celebrating.

Is Balikwisha any closer to signing for Celtic?
I feel as if I've been speaking about Michel-Ange Balikwisha for about 10 years now.

He is, he's the new Mathias Kvistgaarden

Look, Celtic have been interested in him in the past.

They clearly had an interest early in the window.

There was a lot of rumours on Thursday from people saying this is nearly done.

I spoke to someone in Belgium who covers Antwerp and doesn't think it's at that stage, but wasn't ruling it out.

He still felt there was a distance between valuations that can obviously change quickly.

Something tells me that might happen down the line, and I feel as if I've said that a million times, but it's just not going away.

He's not going anywhere else as well.

I think for Antwerp's situation, they have a player who's in in the last year of his contract.

And you don't want to let it go too long

You want to understandably get the maximum value for him, and I suppose it's that game of at what stage do you say that offer we do accept.

I'm led to believe the player is very, very keen to come to Celtic.

We'll see what happens with that one.

I've just got a funny feeling come the end of the window and it might be the final day that Balikwisha will be a Celtic playe

I think if we end up with these Balikshawa & Bruem type players coming in during the last week of the window it will be a sign Rodgers has lost the transfer target battle. I get the feeling he doesnt really rate them - which is why we have never committed fully to getting them. And the problem is I also get the feeling that when players are signed that he hasnt fully wanted then he tends towards casting them aside pretty quickly.

With all the arseholes at the stadium stewarding last night ye just have to wonder are the board trying to provoke the fans? Not signing players, goading fans? Is going out to Almaty going to be the final straw that makes the fans snap and go after the board members? Or will we all roll over again once they make a jibe at the huns and hold up the balance sheet. Hate the *!

I think the Board have gambled the current squad is good enough for the SPL and the Champions League qualifier, so far that gamble has worked for them. If we qualify, and we definitely should given the calibre of the opponent Kairat, not underestimating them in any way, but a squad that progressed to the Champions League group stage, minus Kuhn, last season, should see off Kairat quite easily.

If that comes to pass, I would expect to see the cheque book opened by the Board then.
It's definitely frustrating for all our fans, but that's the way Celtic roll, under the current Celtic Board, it should not be a surprise to anyone.

At this point, I'd be excited to see Vardy considering an offer from us.

We absolutely should not be trawling around for free agents at this stage of the window.

Board so far are getting away without any hassle. Cancerous * to Celtic
