Weirdly I think he is committed to standing by his 3 year comment tbh considering how it ended last time. He will still feel he can be a success domestically with what he has currently then walk off in to the sunset with a job done but we wont be doing anything in Europe with what we have currently which plays in to his maintain or progress comments

I agree with that assessment. Just think of he's doing it without making the best of whatever situation that's selling the club short. Not that it's not true of the board too.

The argument isn’t about whether they were good enough the argument is about whether he was backed financially and he has been the last two windows whether it’s the right players is different story and that between the scouting and targets Rodgers wanted and no one will know how that goes

He came back for that reason. He couldn’t stand the way Celtic fans viewed him with how he left.
He’s said as much since he came back.

The way the fans viewed him was always a weird thing for me as well, we all said from the John McGinn stuff he’d be gone. He lingered until a good move and then he left, and we took it as abandoned mid-season. He was gone from that summer and biding his time.

If this summer plays out without backing him at all like it looks like, and him coming out pushing to be backed, he’ll finish the contract and won’t be blamed this time.

And if it’s same as the rest of the summer and he see’s it out he’ll leave seeing it out with our fans worshipping him.

Thing is, when we backed him and the guys that were under question for overpaid when we did are Engels, Trusty and Idah.

3 players that were key for us doing well in the CL.

and that aside for me completely, we * promised the backing for him to come back. We were very public about that. And last year with they players we did.

We done well in Europe. Even if we didn’t, we should back our word.

You never really get any spice on Celtic TV interviews. Its like North Korean state television interviewing Kim Jong

It's about trying to get the right quality in.

We are working very hard behind the scenes

Ideally we would have liked players in before now

We still have a couple of weeks to go and hopefully we will have at least 1 or 2 in by then

Listen if it doesn't happen we've got a good squad here who are working very hard.

    What else have I missed?

He’d have the full backing of the majority of fans if he walked tomorrow and came out and explained why.

Rodgers was definitely backed last summer, but it's not really true to say he was backed more than any other Celtic manager when you factor in transfer fee "inflation". It was a good window not a great one and it's also the only window so far where you can say he was backed. And didn't that pay off with our best CL campaign in over a decade?

I see the first window very differently to you. It was a horrendous window. I can't remember seeing a manager as poorly backed in a long time. The only player where you could argue that Rodgers was backed but he just didn't play the player was Nawrocki. Other than that, we didn't get him a single player he needed. Palma and Lagerbielke were decent players but totally unsuitable for a Rodgers team and the rest were a bunch of projects.

Rodgers was backed but let's be honest the guys who he signed where instrumental in getting us through to the last 24 of UCL. They also contributed to a title win that leaves us 1 match away from £40m again now due to the boards negligence we will not qualify but for me I wont blame the manager this time.

Actually, if it's about whether he has been backed financially, then it's even clearer that he hasn't been backed than if we discuss players. In the 3-and-a-half windows Rodgers has had so far, we have made a substantial profit on player trading in all but one. In that single window where we actually (crazy concept, I know) spent money, we only spent about £130,000 pounds net. No, I didn't miss a couple of zeros out, it really does say 130 thousand. And even that isn't really the case as Abada left for £8 million slightly outside the window, so really we made a substantial profit even in that one.

He definitely hasn't been backed financially. Quite the opposite. Sources below:

Summer 23 net spend: minus £11.5 million.
    https://www.67hailhail.com/transfers/celtic-net-spend-summer-transfer-window-2023-24/

Jan 24 net spend: £130 thousand.
    https://www.67hailhail.com/transfers/celtic-january-2024-transfer-ins-and-outs-signings-done-deals/
Note that if you include Abada, who went a couple of months later, the net spend was minus £7.87 million.
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68507625

Summer 24 net spend: minus £10.6 million.
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/cz6x2gledydo

Jan 25 net spend: minus £7 million
    (https://www.skysports.com/football/...-2025-scottish-premiership-deals-ins-and-outs)

Summer 25 net spend so far: Proably around minus £14.95 million.
I say "probably" because I can't find a trustworthy source for this one, but I think the following is at least in the right ballpark: https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footba...nsfers-all-confirmed-ins-and-outs_573976.html
