Fact that we knocked back a bid in Jan for him and knew he was going early in summer for a decent fee, and are less than prepared for that happening is bonkers

The waiting for CL status is a convenient excuse to not just sign sub-standard players, but selling Kuhn without at least some cover lined up (a player who could play both sides even on a loan to help cover Jota would do) is bonkers and puts the CL status at needless risk in the first place, as Mr Shelby says here.
This gamble was taken well before we got a favourable draw too.

Potentially a chance to kill off the huns and send them into meltdown on 31 aug. Hope aiming to have new recruits for that rather than deadline day on the folloeing monday.

That's probably for the best, if it was on the same day as the Rangers match you can imagine the board's excuse

"Hey Brendan, we finally found a class winger and striker and agreed deals at 9 million each. We wanted to double check with you but it seems you were busy with something in Govan, so we assumed you wouldn't want them and turned the deals down.
We kept Yang & Tillio so you've still got options there though"

This right here is what I've been thinking about these last few days.

We could have had a much, much worse draw and these * * would be more than happy to watch us fail and lose not just the massive financial windfall, but all the exposure and experience the CL brings. Shooting ourselves in the face all the time.

No movement up top is absolutely criminal beyond belief at this stage. Incompetence.

It’s suicidal mate. Playing Russian roulette with qualifying. One injury or suspension away from Yang, Idah and Forrest as experienced players for that level and is that who we really want ?

It was confirmed 15 days ago. So I think the point your man was making is that there’s nothing new in 2 weeks. Which is true.

Blocking a move for Tilio sums up the ridiculousness of this window.

Travelling to Kazakhstan for a CL play off game with 1 left back, 1 left winger and a 34 year old Jamesy as the only one you can trust on the other side and we’ve not even thought about replacing our main striker that we lost in January … oh and the derby game is right after it. What could possibly go wrong?

How the * have we managed to make 10 million from sell on fees alone but spent 3/4 million … shameless.

Brendan Rodgers has given a transfer update on Celtic's potential incomings, with the manager saying he is 'hopefully' getting closer to new signings this month.

The club have made seven signings this window, including the return of Kieran Tierney from Arsenal, as well as Benjamin Nygren and Shin Yamada, among others.

Tonight (August 14), Celtic have to submit their 25-man Champions League squad to UEFA for their upcoming play-off qualifier versus Kairat Almaty, ahead of the first leg next Wednesday.

They can also register two players up to 24 hours before the first leg, provided they remove two registered players in the process.

When asked if his side would be bolstered by the time the home leg versus the Kazakhstan Premier League Champions comes around, Rodgers said: "Hopefully would be the answer to that.

"But, we have right up until the day before the game to change our squad, so hopefully that can be the case. I don't want to dwell on it too much, as it has been constant. I am not clever enough for you guys to say the same things 20 times differently.

"We hope we can improve it, and hopefully, by then, we will do

On Celtic's transfer strategy, Rodgers continued: "I'm philosophical about it. The club has always notoriously done business towards the end of the window. I've said it before, all coaches and managers want the players in as soon as we can, because pre-season is for preparation, and you want to be as prepared as you can possibly be.

"Regardless of the players we get in or not, what I know is that the players that are here, what has gone unnoticed a little bit is that we've made a really good start. We've had two really good wins and played well. I know we'll get better, but I can't knock the performances over the two games to get the results.

"That has been clouded a wee bit in all this sort of negativity around the transfers. So I'm really trying to focus on the guys that are here; there is lots of stuff going on in the background.

"Hopefully, we can come out of the end of the market in a good place."
