We have to be very careful what we say about Maeda or any other Celtic player who is wanting away, or have any credible rumours and speculation that they are wanting away, because we all know that potential buyers, suitors and their supporters scan the club's fan forums to guage the opinions, strengths and weaknesses of the said player.

Maeda has many qualities, but he also has his well documented limitations, like clean air swipes in front of goal and falling on his * clean through on goal, because he didn't put the right studs on. :giggle2:

If he goes, he goes. We move on and replace him with Johnny Kenny. Like a new signing.

There are direct quotes from him saying he is happy at Celtic and that he is aiming to have a even better season with us this year.

That goes against the talk about him wanting away. I am pretty sure the club want to cash in.

I am highly confident that IF he wants away now, it has to do with him playing LW after what he did last year. He quite clearly wants and should play as a striker.

That redevelopment cost has largely been paid off over the last full set and interim accounts. There will be some costs still but the level of profits earned over the last three seasons will easily cover this and given its capital spend it will have helped us reduce our tax bill under capital allowance.

It's a good and valid point you have raised about the Barrowfield redevelopement, and others too on here. That's a significant £20M chunk out out of the reputed £80M-£100M cash reserves, roughly 1/4 or 1/5th, couple that with the hesistancy of the Board over the combined outlay of £23M last year for Idah, Engels and Trusty, and wanting to see some viable return for that investment and it maybe gives you a window of opportunity to look into the minds of the Celtic Board. We have to remember the Board is comprised of money men, they don't think the way the ordinary punter fan thinks on the street.

Hes also said things to the media that contradict that. Is everyone forgetting his interview before the huns NY game when he was asked about his future. Or even more recently to the Japanese media when he said he doesn't know what his future entails

You don’t just lose the investment though. That 20m in cash spent becomes an asset on the balance sheet, it’s not lost. It goes from a liquid asset to illiquid in the form of fixed assets.

Things like that are used by normal businesses as a means of obtaining finance to expand / improve. A novel idea when it comes to Celtic.

It was the same japanese interview he said that he is happy here and is hoping to score even more goals this season. That he dont know his future is all down to what the club wants to do with him.

I don't think it is any of that though. I think he wants to leave after playing up top in the wrong position alongside absolute dross in Idah and Forrest (with all due respect to Jamesey)

Isolating himself and playing with them lowers his chances to get a good move, ofc he want to pull the trigger before it is to late.

No it was a different interview. Its nothing to do with playing through the middle either

Not sure which one was most recent. The one i read was just before pre-season. Dosnt matter. No top class player want to damage themselves at a club that dramatically cut all its ambition.

Have a bad feeling about this. Didn’t think he really looked himself in the last two games - maybe I’m being paranoid but I felt that his body-language wasn’t the best. Hope to * I’m wrong.

They've had their investment return from the money spent last summer on those 3.

If we take the figures of £26m that has been reported on those 3, we made £1m for getting to the play-off. We also made £4m for finishing 21st in the league phase, as you get £250k for each position you place. That's £5m. We also £6m for the 3 wins and we made £2m from the 2 draws. Nearly half of that £26m was paid back in additionals from the Champions League, alone. That doesn't include the league phase payment of £18m. So, from prize money alone from the Champions League, we have made £31m. We charged 55,000 ticket holders £160 for a 4 match package that was sold out. That's £9m. It was £45 for the Bayern game. That's another £2.5m. That's £43m. That also doesn't include the TV money we receive from the Champions League participation. Frpm the European TV money, we will receive around £8m and from the Non-European TV money, we receive around £3m. That's another £11m.

So, we made nearly £55m from the Champions League, alone. Engels played every game, Idah scored and assisted in some, Trusty played often. They all contributed.

Edited- It also doesn't include the very likely scenario that we would, at the very least, break even if we sold all 3 right now.

The £20m is long paid over the last sets of accounts. There is nothing much coming out the cash at bank for that project.
