Right now I’d much prefer him through the middle with another winger in. If he’s to play left wing i think yamada has to play just so they can both run the defence ragged

Two wingers in and him as a 9.

Get wingers in to help give strong options down the right, and someone to challenge Jota down the left.

Let Maeda be own main guy in the middle, listen to offers for Idah, really dont care if we lose money on him, not like it would bankrupt us right now. Maeda, Yamada and Osmand should be fine rotation. With Maeda pushed left he is needed to stay on the pitch and bring on Yamada.

Maeda, Yamada and Osmand is not an acceptable strike force over the course of the season, we need to be aiming higher. Looks like Daizen will be the number 1 left winger for us this season. Which is great as his output there is very similar to what it is through the middle. What we need is a clinical out and out striker. Basically the opposite of Idah.

Based on 'normal' Maeda including the last 6 or 7 games and start of this season/friendlies - if there's a big offer we should sell him.
(Assuming we'd reinvest the cash - huge if)

That golden spell last season will never be recreated, his value will never be higher.

Aye we 100% need another left winger and get him up top. Drop Idah and Kenny away on loan or sold.

This talk of his form being recreated from, has any striker consecutively put up those figures other than Larsson in recent years?

The guy clearly has talent to be involved in goals and assists. Guy has suddenly become a victim of his own success because he hasn't immediately scored a hattrick in his first competitive game back.

He's been involved in 91 goals for us in 11,303 minutes played, with a lot being during his time out on LW. The moment hes played centrally however we've look a totally different outfit and with the wingers to support him that are of the level of a Jota - id be confident Maeda to could rack up another 30+ goals and assists season

He absolutely will not recreate that form. And that’s ok. He had a period when he was moved central, and he’d be moved from central and still be the same threat he scored 15 in 10 games. That’s unsustainable.

    30 I don’t expect. 20 though, I think he will

20 for Idah I’ll be happy with, always been generally accepted bar of a decent return in a season for a Celtic striker that.

If he is first choice rather than his role last season, hit 20 as second choice then I think he would want more. Depends that on if we get a good RW in as well, Rodgers teams the wings are the main threat. But if we don’t have that, then Maeda hitting that from LW we need more than that through the middle. Because on the RW, if it’s Forrest and Yang, I don’t even know what to guess for what I’d think of a return in terms of goals from them.

Jamesy could get 1 like last season or 10, and I’d not be surprised, Yang got more than expected last season and I’d be surprised if he gets similar.

I’m not confident of us getting other options in. I think Yamada is going to show more than anyone expects, based on nothing but a gut feeling for it. So wait and see.

Thought he was unlucky with the slip, and the save from the Forrest cross.

Hes been pretty poor for a while now, even last season he was poor playing ST for the final month.

Looks far better through the middle. If only we would sign another winger.

He looked lost when they had the ball, whether to track back or let Tierney handle it.

He linked up with Tierney once in the entire game to get a cross in. This is why we should have had signings in before now, so everyone is accustomed to their teammates for the CL qualifier.
