  4. I guess its the usual strategy, spend as minimum amount as we can to get a bit of excitement. Then as per when qualification is required for CL or whatever its probably multiple choice funds.

X amount if we qualify for CL.

Reduced X amount if we qualify for EL

And 3 bottles of irn bru and a multipack of walkers if its ConL heaven forbid.

And into the bargain as its left last minute then lets pay over the odds regardless.

The fact we go into the Europa should still be an incentive to improve the team as we'd have a real chance of going deep if we did.

But sadly its all about the balance sheet.

At this point i wouldn't blame Rodgers if he walked, honestly.

  8. Sounds like the plan is to hold off any signings until they can count on the CL money coming in. That will then determine the amount they are prepare to spend and the players they will target.

I think Rodgers has rejected the initial guys they were targeting and they have come to an agreement that they go for better on condition they get the CL money.

  16. Every season we are waiting to spend money because of the CL games that we might not get passed. Are we not spending last seasons CL winnings that is already in the bank...? Tired of this waiting to see pish.
I called us a tinpot club and got pelters else where but every window we act like tramps on a giro.
Really at the...what ever, stage with new players.

Everything about this summer has felt like we are getting the pish ripped out of us from charging season books for the Newcastle game and the qualifier to come, The countless adidas releases (I understand it's not a club thing), The increase in price to season books, The sheer lack of any appetite to improve, #WelcomebacKToparadise being branded about everywhere every 2 mins despite it being agreed 6 months ago and now giving Kenny a new deal a guy who we set out price at 1 million for just a matter of weeks ago.

What the * are we doing

  19. If we get the CL tie done I think we will see a decent wedge spent in the final week. Similar to last year.

At this point I cant see any other logical explanation for not having brought in at least one winger by now other than there were clear differences over the targets between Rodgers and the club. And the club have stepped back now and told Rodgers they will give him what he wants if he gets the CL money for them.

  20. I’m not having a go at you personally on this one mate but I don’t think what European competition we’re in even dictates how much they spend.

Certainly, when our fate is realised after a qualifier, it never alters the budget.

Without actually knowing the figures, I’d hazard a guess that we’ve actually spent more after losing a CL qualifier.

The two best transfer windows I can recall is when we lost to Braga under Lennon in his first season, and then to Midtjylland under Ange.

We were also guaranteed CL in Rodgers first season back and signed Holm, Palma, Yang, Lagerbielke etc.

If my memory serves me right, we had no European football at all under Lennon the first year, then Europa League with Ange.

It’s almost like when we lose one they actually realise they’ve * it and need to do something.
