Celtic's 2025/26 Summer transfer window: Stage: Pitchforks

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Sgt Neppers*, Mar 16, 2025.

  1. Closes 1st September so a week?

When kyogo left and the days were ticking down I was thinking surely they're not going to let the window close without buying his replacement especially knowing he was wanting to leave but as we all know they did and we listened to how hard it is getting players in the winter window... I've now given up all hope of the board getting players in. Haven't a clue what's going on at Celtic park but there's clearly an issue with them and the manager but the fans and Celtic football club certainly aren't benefiting from it.

  2. I'd skip pitchforks and move onto napalm bombs. I could accept a board that was filled with good-hearted people who said that we won't invest in the team like we could because we donate heavily to charity, so no big cash reserve is ever built up.

But we have a board getting fat bonuses while a pile of cash sits and does nothing.

It depends on what they do before the window closes before we can really say that.

Sick to death of them gambling with CL qualification every time though. We’re really very lucky that we’ve had automatic qualification the last 3 years as I’ve no doubt we’d have done the same as we’re doing now if we hadn’t. And we would have ballsed it up.

  4. Think it's a case of two targets for each position , one if we qualify and one if we don't. The better/more expensive targets will be the ones we go for if we qualify . If we qualify we will spend some serious dough.

    Rightly or wrongly.

  5. Mate it should be if we qualify or not.

There is reportedly £77m to £85m cash in the bank. Our trading profit on disposal since window opened is gut of £22m we should be out there spending £25m to £35m on 4 or 5 top quality players and not even blinking!

Is there even any decent links ? there is nothing its just weird something just seems off . Every man and his dog is going daft over no signings and we just seem to be trundling towards a disaster

I think we are in trouble regardless if this lot are allowed to continue managing transfer windows like this.

We’re a Maeda injury away from disaster. Or even if he continues his slump in form.

I wouldn't even call it a slump in form. He's just now back playing a role that doesn't get the best out of him but with worse players up top than the last time he was played on the left.

Kyogo and Kuhn had the pace and ability to create space and provide better service & finishing so we weren't as dependent on Maeda. He's currently our only outlet, which isn't his fault.

But yet, we're still not signing any *...:31:

ultimately they see things as we are still winning and successful so what were doing works and so they dont change

say if they start spending money and we dont improve in success and making even more money then they will see that as failure so why change

its simple really looking it like that

i dont see much changing in transfer windows think its going to be the way we work until we become unsuccessful like if you think back to covid season

theres the things lawell has said in the past like "we dont budget on champions league" theres others but i cant remember the now but its lawells blu print were working from

  11. Wouldn't surprise me to see JK do the presser the mawra tbh

  12. It’s getting to the point now where it’s actually hilarious.

Expectations are non existent but somehow still not being matched.

Manager said he’s not the man if we simply want to maintain.

    We’re not even doing that.

    Something seriously wrong.

See you all back in here tomorrow at 9am

  14. For various reasons, I barely make any games now, and I’m * livid about the way we are run. This is an all time low.

    * knows how people on here feel that actually go to the games every week.

Listened to a podcast earlier and there was a perfect comparison between the club and the fans.

They pointed out that the Green Brigade pour their own money and resources in to their materials to make tributes to our legendary players, and inspiring messages for the team etc.

The people who run the club can’t even be bothered to fix the banners around the stadium that have been damaged for months.

They simply don’t give a * about our club, on and off the park.

I also believe that if ever there was a year for us not to * about and stagnate, it's this one.

Huns will improve and for the fiest time in a while there's another 5 or 6 teams in the league I'm not really fancying going away to. The two euro results tonight showing that.

We could be in for a seriously rude awakening.

The huns could also be looking at automatic CL qualification if a team from the top 5 leagues wins the CL this season. As a result of the club coefficient rankings.

So the league is huge if we don’t want to give them a financial boost.

  18. Without being dramatic, (I think we’d win the majority of our games with even the current underprepared squad), I don’t think there’s many “gimmes” in the league now.

The likes of Falkirk and Livingston away will be tough games let alone the classic difficult away games to the bigger clubs.

You could say maybe Dundee but we just scraped past St Mirren at home in no more so I don’t think there will be any guarantees this year.

This is why direct wingers are even more essential than usual.

We need guys who can isolate defenders and take them out the game when they are sitting in a stubborn low block.

Guess where the weakest part of our squad is? Yep.

Even our strongest winger in Maeda isn’t great at dribbling at all. His strengths lie elsewhere.

A few bad results and it could genuinely spiral out of control without serious additions.

Huns will struggle as well in these games but that’s not the point, plus by all accounts they’ve strengthened well in wide areas.

    Grim.
